As a data reporting intern, you will assist in producing data-driven reporting projects on legal, tax, and government topics. You will have a role in using routine data in daily stories as well as long-term projects. You must have prior training or experience in data journalism.

You need to have:

  • Examples of data journalism you have worked on. Do not submit with your application. We will ask for them during initial screening.

  • Experience with Excel or Google Sheets is required. Experience with R or Python is preferred.

  • A drive to produce great reporting.

  • Willingness to collaborate with our team of reporters and editors.

  • Completed at least three years of an undergraduate program with a data journalism focus or be enrolled in a graduatejournalismprogram that focuses on data journalism.

  • Prior training or experience in data journalism.

  • Ability to work within a team under deadline pressure.

*Summer Housing availability is contingent upon additional terms and is limited to students whose permanent residence is outside the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.
