Compensation:

We offer our employees a competitive compensation and benefits package that reflects our organizational culture, mission, and core values. The salary range for this position is $65,000.00 to $68,739.84 and may commensurate with experience.

SOME (So Others Might Eat) is currently seeking a full-time Clinician for our Behavioral Health Services department at our Conway location, adjacent to the Benning Road Metro (blue line) in NE Washington, DC.

Position Description: The Clinician utilizes evidence-based, trauma-informed best practices to provide diagnostic assessments, therapy, and clinical interventions to clients referred from both SOME programs and the broader community. This role promotes holistic integration by collaborating with clients' care teams within SOME and external community partners. The Clinician also ensures continuity of care by providing warm handoffs, support, and referrals to case managers, prescribers, and other providers affiliated with SOME's programming.

Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm (40 hours per week)

Required: Master's Degree; 1+ years experience providing mental health interventions, working with underserved populations, and/or familiar with trauma-informed care

Preferred: Master's Degree in Social Work; LICSW/LPC issued by the District of Columbia Department of Health; 3+ years of experience providing diagnostic assessments, trauma-informed therapy, and clinical care coordination.

Required License/Certification: LGSW/ LGPC issued by the District of Columbia Department of Health; Basic Life Support [CPR & AED] Provider

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required:



  • In-depth knowledge of trauma, mental health, and substance use disorders
  • Strong clinical skills, including assessment and diagnosis, and trauma-informed treatment
  • Knowledge of electronic health records usage and management
  • Experience with or ability to learn brief interventions for walk-in and warm handover clients
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced FQHC environment
  • Organized with an attention to detail
  • Collaboration skills
  • Ability to communicate with diverse audiences
  • Proficient with MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Time management skills
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Works well independently


Mental Health & Trauma Treatment Services



  • Assess clients for appropriate clinical interventions (SBIRT, diagnostic assessment, therapy, clinical referrals, etc.)
  • Plan trauma-informed treatment for clients
  • Provide screening, brief intervention, and referrals to clients who are walk-ins and/or warm handovers from SOME's FQHCs
  • Provide crisis intervention services for clients experiencing a crisis in SOME's FQHCs
  • Maintain an ongoing mental health, trauma, and/or grief therapy caseload of clients
  • Facilitate groups, as assigned
  • Ensure clinical notes are entered within 1 business day of intervention


Clinical Care Coordination:



  • Support clients with adherence to appointments (outreach to clients who no-show)
  • Collaborate and refer clients to appropriate internal and external providers to address client needs
  • Refer clients to appropriate level of care as needed (Crisis Stabilization, ACT Teams, Hospitalization, CSAs, etc.)
  • Support with basic case management, as needed


Integration:



  • Attend various clinical meetings within FQHCs and SOME, which promote integration
  • Provide trauma-informed mental health consultation to FQHC providers and staff
  • Collaborate with the client's physicians/ prescribers/ and providers to ensure the client receives holistic care
  • Provide coverage to the second FQHC, as needed


Reports to: Senior Director, Outpatient Mental Health

Position Designation: This position is designated as Safety Sensitive. You may be subject to drug testing before or during your employment with SOME. In this position, you may be disqualified from employment based on the presence of marijuana in test results, even if you possess a medical card authorizing the use of medical marijuana.

Physical Demands: Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds. Requires looking at a computer screen for several hours a day. May be required to sit for long periods. Must be able to travel to events and meetings off-site
