The University of Wisconsin-Platteville is currently seeking applicants for a Retail & Catering Lead position. This position will work in a synergistic and educational environment to provide customer service and related activities in campus catering operations, following established procedures and best practices to assure high quality catering services. The incumbent will be expected to adapt quickly and effectively to daily changes in business needs including increased & decreased guest count, menu substitutions, staffing needs, customer requests, and more.

Key Job Responsibilities:
  • Leads service for retail venues and catered events
  • Adheres to federal, state, campus, and local food safety regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Performs routine and non-routine food preparation activities including cook to order and specialty foods
  • Cleans, inspects, and maintains kitchen equipment and work areas
  • Works with catering customers to establish menus, service styles, and other details of catered events
  • Schedules, trains, and guides service staff and bartenders

Responsibilities:

  • Lead Dining Services staff in the setup, preparation and service of catering, student center food court operations and all other Dining Services locations.

  • Game plan daily operation based on the priorities of the day, communicating with management, staff and the customer to insure operational standards.

  • Direct the setup, delivery of service and break down of service.

  • Monitor dining area and serving lines for proper appearance.

  • Evaluate quality of service to guests, recommending changes to Assistant Director Dining Services.

  • Troubleshoot dining and kitchen concerns, such as food shortages, timeliness of food deliveries, etc.

  • Provide direction and leadership to team members

  • Maintain proper sanitation standards.

What You'll Need to Succeed:

  • High School Diploma/GED

  • Experience in managing food service operations

  • Ability to work some nights and weekends
