Estimated annual base pay: $89,220 (minimum) $112,400 (midpoint) $134,880 (maximum)

Are You Ready To Make Your Mark? Are you an Linux System Administrator looking for their next career opportunity? This position is responsible for the Unix systems (server hardware, storage, operating systems, and utilities) which are used to run critical, enterprise business applications. Responsibilities include installation, maintenance, and operation to ensure availability, security, performance, and scalability to support the needs of the business. The Unix System Administrator 1 can work with low to moderate supervision.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Maintain and update Unix systems(Red Hat, Ubuntu, AIX) by reviewing, testing, and implementing OS releases and vendor patches to ensure stability and security.
  • Manage system reliability and data integritythrough regular backups, recovery procedures, and troubleshooting of hardware/software issues.
  • Collaborate across teams- working with application owners, network engineers, developers, and DBAs - to ensure Unix systems meet business needs for availability, scalability, and performance.
  • Configure and manage file systemswithin enterprise storage environments, ensuring efficient data access and utilization.

Other Essential Functions:

  • Provide after-hours supportas needed, including evenings, weekends, and on-call rotations, to ensure continuous system availability and rapid incident response.
  • Contribute to IT initiativesby actively participating in both local and global project teams, supporting infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and process improvements.
  • Monitor and maintain 24x7 system availability, leveraging proactive tools and practices to detect issues early and ensure optimal performance across Unix environments.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Strong technical expertisein Linux or AIX operating systems, with a solid understanding of Unix principles, command-line operations, and file system management.
  • Proven troubleshooting skills, capable of diagnosing and resolving issues across server hardware, operating systems, and application software.
  • Knowledge of enterprise infrastructure, including data storage, backup and recovery best practices, and performance optimization.
  • Self-motivated and adaptable, with a passion for continuous learning and the ability to thrive in fast-paced environments-both independently and within collaborative teams.

Education:

  • Associate's Degree; 1+ year of additional related experience is accepted in lieu of a degree.

Experience:

  • Working knowledge of programming languages (e.g., bash, KSH, Perl, Python, Ansible, PowerShell)
  • 2+ years of experience as a Unix (Linux or AIX) administrator
  • Familiarity with application software (e.g., Apache, Tomcat, Backup software) preferred
  • Operational knowledge of Oracle, Postgres and SQL databases preferred
  • Administrative knowledge of Oracle databases a plus
  • Knowledge of networking principles including routing, subnets, TCP, IP, VLANs, and UDP.

License & Certifications:

  • Professional RedHat, Ubuntu or AIX administration certificates a plus
