Job Title: Medical Billing Specialist - Orthopedics Location: Silver Spring, MD Schedule: Full-Time, Monday-Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM (flexible hours available) Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire Overview: A growing Orthopedic clinic in Silver Spring, MD is seeking a dedicated Medical Billing Specialist to join their team on-site. This role will support billing operations for four providers, with plans to expand. The position begins with a focus on billing cleanup and transitions into ongoing billing responsibilities. You'll be part of a collaborative team including two part-time billers and a large clinical staff. Key Responsibilities: * Review and post payments manually, including fee verification and entry * Investigate and resolve claim denials, identifying root causes and corrective actions * Prepare and mail HCFA forms for paper billing * Handle Workers' Compensation and liability billing, including reductions and attorney adjustments * Support transition from paper to electronic billing using Medix Premier * Assist with coding tasks to improve billing accuracy and efficiency Qualifications: * Minimum 1 year of experience in medical billing or revenue cycle operations * Familiarity with Workers' Compensation, Orthopedics, or Pain Management billing preferred * Experience with HCFA forms, payment posting, and denial resolution * Coding experience is a plus * Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills Employee Value Proposition: Join a growing orthopedic clinic with opportunities for advancement into lead or management roles.
