We are seeking a highly skilled and results-driven Senior Material Planner to join our dynamic supply chain team. The Senior Material Planner will have extensive experience in material planning, purchase order and purchase request management, and a proven track record of leading teams to drive operational excellence.
This position is responsible for end-to-end material planning, managing key processes, mitigating risks, and ensuring successful execution of purchasing and inventory strategies. This person will also be the lead SME and PoC for supporting our Oracle ERP/MRP integrations and governance within the division.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
Material Planning & Material Management -
* Oversee and optimize material planning processes, ensuring timely and cost-effective procurement of materials.
* Develop, maintain, and execute detailed material plans based on production forecasts, demand planning, and inventory levels.
* Experience with item setup, BOM management, and work order planning
* Lead and support the engineering and operations team in forecasting demand and ensuring material availability while minimizing excess inventory.
End-to-End Purchase Order & Request Management -
* Manage the complete purchase order lifecycle from initial request to final delivery, ensuring accuracy and alignment with production and inventory needs.
* Proven ability to analyze ERP/MRP tool output to drive appropriate actions (e.g., expedite, push-out, cancel)
* Collaborate closely with the pre-buy manager to coordinate and facilitate the purchase request process, ensuring seamless communication between departments.
* Track and expedite the processing of purchase orders, addressing any discrepancies or delays in the supply chain.
Coordination & Facilitation -
* Work cross-functionally with engineering, procurement, logistics, and production teams to ensure efficient material flow and on-time deliveries.
* Facilitate regular meetings with internal stakeholders to align on material needs, prioritize purchasing activities, and address any potential supply chain issues.
* Ensure alignment of purchase orders with supply and demand plans, adjusting to unforeseen shifts in production requirements or material shortages.
Process Management & Optimization -
* Continuously assess and improve material planning and purchasing processes to enhance efficiency, reduce lead times, and minimize costs.
* Develop and implement best practices for managing purchase orders, purchase requests, and inventory control.
* Utilize data and analytics to identify opportunities for process improvements, proposing solutions and driving implementation.
Risk Management & Issue Resolution -
* Proactively identify potential risks or disruptions within the supply chain and collaborate with cross-functional teams to mitigate them.
* Ensure proper contingency plans are in place for material shortages, delayed shipments, or unexpected changes in demand.
* Resolve any issues that arise during the purchasing or material planning processes, including supply shortages, quality issues, and delivery delays.
Ownership of Execution -
* Take full ownership of the execution of material planning strategies, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of materials to support production schedules.
* Regularly communicate material status updates to leadership and key stakeholders, highlighting potential risks or concerns.
* Drive accountability across the team for ensuring material availability and resolution of any execution issues.
Required Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration, or related field (master's degree preferred).
* 7+ years of experience in material planning, procurement, or supply chain management, with a strong focus on end-to-end process management.
* 2+ years of hands-on experience with Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP, especially within Supply Chain and MRP modules
* Strong knowledge of purchasing, inventory management, and production scheduling processes.
* Familiarity with multi-site or global supply chains
* Experience with contract manufacturing (CM) or vendor-managed inventory (VMI)
* Strong understanding of Microsoft Project and Microsoft BI.
* Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET level security clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
* Ability to manage multiple priorities and handle complex situations effectively under pressure.
* Experience supporting ERP/MRP system integrations.
* Knowledge of compliance requirements (e.g., ISO, ITAR, FDA, depending on industry)
* Technical skills that include of the following: Advanced Excel, Oracle BI, Tableau, or similar. Programming language experience using SQL or python.
Salary Range: $95,000 to $110,000/year
