Position Summary: The Division Controller is a highly skilled person who will create value for the company by partnering with the operations and resource team. The individual must be forward thinking and excellent at solving problems while focusing on accounting activities with the potential for a broader scope of responsibilities. This position is located in Chester, CA with frequent visits required to our Lakeview, OR location. Duties/Responsibilities:
- Perform monthly financial statement analysis; budget variance analysis; valuation and reconciliation of inventory (logs, lumber, byproducts); accruals; depreciation; reconciliation of balance sheet accounts; miscellaneous income; miscellaneous expense meals and entertainment; and donations as directed.
- Maintain and understand lumber flowsheet for waste percentages, as well as book to physical workbook for log inventory.
- Produce and reconcile financials for three different companies, and two separate divisions within each company (Collins Pine, Collins Timber, TWC).
- Responsible for reconciliation and compliance with regulations for multiple multi-million-dollar grants simultaneously. Grants include federal, state, and local municipality.
- Oversight and review of bi-monthly log accounting and working knowledge of log accounting systems.
- Establish and maintain controls and procedures to ensure general acceptable accounting practices (GAAP).
- Work with corporate banking to safeguard cash, establish and maintain procedures to assure compliance.
- Perform financial analysis for facilities, potential projects, and CIP projects.
- Review accounts receivable and ensure that bad debt provisions are adequate.
- Maintain fixed asset schedules.
- Prepare information for internal audits - responsible for communication, coordination and inquiries from and for external auditors.
- Execute and incorporate compliance for timber and forestry contracts of the California Almanor Forest.
- Oversee inventory physical counts, inventory valuation, and inventory process controls. Perform valuation of inventory at lower of cost or market.
- Prepare annual budgets and quarterly reforecasting (working in coordination with sales, operations, and forestry personnel).
- Perform additional duties as required by supervisor.
- On-site attendance is essential to effectively perform the listed duties and responsibilities.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Supervise Accounting Technician.
- Responsible for performance management of direct reports in accordance with company values, objectives, and policies.
- Provide mentoring, coaching, training, and support consistent with developing and sustaining a high-performing and accountable team.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Strong budgetary understanding and focus and strong operational accounting understanding.
- Ability to self-direct and prioritize workflow.
- Ability to exercise good judgment and manage the function, consistent with corporate and fiduciary principles and guidelines, while participating as a member of the local facility team.
- High level of personal integrity and ethical and professional standards.
- Travel required to our Lakeview facility and corporate office, as needed.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or the equivalent experience required.
- Strong accounting experience including balance sheet account reconciliations and variance analysis.
- Previous experience in a supervisory role.
- Five (5) years of experience in the wood products industry preferred.
Salary DOE $90,000 - $120,000
