The Revenue Account (Rev Acct) & Settlement Analyst is responsible for monitoring credit card payments, testing, data analytics, SOX controls, error processing, and commercial project participation. This role analyzes moderately complex financial, banking, ticketing, cargo, and customer payment data to identify trends and anomalies and to ensure financial integrity and accuracy. The Rev Acct & Settlement Analyst is an organized collaborator and strong communicator who is ready to drive the future of Southwest's Finance Department.

Responsibilities
- Analyze financial, banking, ticketing, cargo, and customer payment data and review activity for unexpected trends or results
- Build relationship with internal partners and external vendors to ensure needed financial and operational data is sent and received timely and is complete and accurate
- Analyze moderately complex data received from multiple sources and reconcile to internal financial systems and reports; create and validate ad hoc metrics and reporting
- Record accounting entries and perform analysis to complete the financial close process with minimal guidance and supervision
- Resolve issues, questions, and disputes received from internal and external customers in a timely manner, ensuring deliverables meet customer expectations and requirements
- Evaluate accounting and operational system issues and/or interruptions, determine root cause and conduct impact analysis, implement resolution plan, provide Sr Leaders with reporting and options for solution
- Observe system performance during day-to-day operation to ensure accuracy of system and process changes; research unexpected trends or results to identify root cause and report to Department Leadership
- Validate and document test cases in support of system upgrades, production defect fixes and projects impacting the Department
- Recommend and initiate opportunities to streamline work and to build checks and balances into work processes
- May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of Company and regulatory ticketing, cargo, refund, and banking policies considered when performing analyses, responding to inquiries and when participating on projects
- Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, internal controls and SOX compliance, industry trends, customer payments and refunds policies, banking, and the analysis and reporting of financial data
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services, including customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction
- Knowledge of software systems and tools, including database tools, used in performance of day-to-day functional duties
- Skilled in asking insightful questions and listening to understand all perspectives with a solid understanding of Business impacts
- Skilled in collecting, organizing, visualizing and assimilating data from multiple sources, including turning raw data into meaningful information using ad hoc reporting tools, data-oriented programming languages and visualization software
- Skilled in identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
- Skilled in use of Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel spreadsheets, Word documents, and PowerPoint presentations
- Ability to effectively communicate financial, ticketing and systems information to those without a similar background and to all position levels
- Ability to effectively communicate information and ideas in a concise and compelling story-line using all forms of communication, tailoring tone, style and content to the intended audience
Education
- Required: High School Diploma or GED
Experience
- Intermediate-level experience, fully functioning broad knowledge in:
- Accounting, Finance, Business, Management Information Systems
- Data collection and analysis
- Financial and business risks and impacts
- Airline ticketing, cargo, payment & settlements, refunds, customer funds, fraud risk
Preferred: Experience in SAP, Alteryx, Tableau, SQL,
Physical Abilities
- Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
- Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
- Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job
Other Qualifications
- Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
- Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines
- Minimal Travel required
- Must have flexibility to work extended hours during the week and weekend, including Company holidays
Pay & Benefits
Competitive market salary from $71,450 per year to $79,400 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
