The Regional Manager, Food Contact Regulatory Compliance provides corporate oversight, regional accountability, direction and guidance to PPG's Industrial Coatings/Kitchen & Industrial Bakeware (IC/KIB) business regarding regulatory compliance for food contact material safety and compliance for the US & Canada region. You will have direct impact upon the development, sale, distribution, use and disposal of PPG IC/KIB products in the region and leads the regional process for food contact compliance programs and serves as regional subject matter expert in food contact safety in PPG's Global Product Stewardship (PS) Department.

To support the business, you will learn the kitchenware/industrial bakeware business, identify gaps related to food contact compliance and provide opportunities for improvement which will contribute to business profitability while minimizing product liability. You will report to Manager, Global Food Contact Regulatory Compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support, maintain and update food contact material compliance program containing standard global processes to ensure the sustainability of procedures related to regional food contact regulations including methodology around migration testing, calculations, modelling, screening, NIAS studies, toxicological risk assessments, and demonstrating that the manufacturing process fulfils the GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices).

  • Lead regional programs including risk management, around food contact material safety and compliance.

  • Assist and direct the business units in the implementation of procedures during product development to comply with food contact material regulations as well as awareness around restricted chemicals or those of concern to ensure compliance with conditions of use for regulated chemicals.

  • Provide input to PPGs' Food Contact Common Interest Group to share concepts, best practices, and design/provide tools to manage the programs regionally.

  • Liaise with Legal, outside counsel and other stakeholders to ensure coordination of management of potential and verified non-compliance issues.

  • Continuous improvement in our processes to identify, evaluate and communicate food contact emerging issues.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with trade associations, technical and legal consultants as well as agency representatives involved with food contact material regulations. Manage contracts for a variety of consultants who provide regulatory support for the processes regionally.

  • Ensure awareness of issues through participation in trade groups, conferences and seminars as well as monitoring publications. Serve as food contact material regulatory expert to inform PPG's position on pending legislation and support the Substances of Interest processes.

  • Identify opportunities for advocacy on regulatory and emerging issues around food contact material compliance. Engage PPG Product Stewardship and Government Affairs team to address advocacy opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in chemistry or other science discipline and 5 or more years of experience in Product Stewardship/Regulatory Affairs or Chemistry field.

  • Broad understanding of food contact regulatory compliance for the global operation of businesses.

  • The ability to be recognized, internally and externally, for regulatory compliance expertise, especially related to food contact material compliance.

  • Working knowledge of PPG's various business activities globally.

  • Ability to effectively relay complex technical information to various cross-functional audiences.

  • Proven ability to influence and partner with business leaders to drive impactful results, while thriving in a diverse, multicultural environment.

  • This is a remote position. Minimal travel may be required (up to 10%).

The base salary range for this position is $110,000 - $130,000, with a possibility of an annual bonus up to 10% of base salary.
