Posting Summary |
Rutgers University-Newark, an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise, is seeking a Director of Student Support Services within the Academic Foundations Center. Reporting to the Associate Dean/Director of
AFC/
EOF, the Director of Student. This position has primary oversight responsibility for the US Department of Education's Student Support Services (
SSS).
This position is responsible for not limited to the following:
- Provide overall leadership and direction; anticipate complex functional needs; and develop recommendations and solutions for the SSS program, policies, and services that meet academic, social, and/or special population needs of students
- Organize, administer, and coordinate multiple facets of planning, preparation, evaluation, budget, communications, events, records, statistics, reports, and documents
- Develop and coordinate academic year activities/workshops and tutoring including faculty and staff recruitment
- Manage evaluations of programs and services, assess service levels and program progress, and prepare appropriate recommendations
- Research and plan curriculum and program criteria, as well as supervise, evaluate, and/or support professional staff
- Maintain and enhance program and college-wide leadership activities
- Maintain a student case load and fostering quality faculty relationships
- Develop collaborative efforts, relationships, and strategic alliances with internal constituents and external agencies, corporations, and other TRIO programs

Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. The flexible work arrangements outlined in Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 are part of a pilot program that is effective September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2024. Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- Requires a master's degree in Education, Curriculum Development, Counseling or a related field
- Also requires three years' experience with urban, multicultural students, communities, and school systems with demonstrated experience in the development and management of creative alternative programming, program assessment and evaluation, budgeting, and program management
