Position Description:
Summary Under general direction carry out experimental design for sponsored research projects, including compilation and analysis of data generated. Primary Responsibilities
- Develop and perform lab research procedures; carry out routine and complex experiments.
- Perform tasks associated with instrument setup, calibration, QC, workflow design, and routine maintenance.
- Interact with institutional researchers to understand and assist with the execution of experimental goals.
- Assist with experimental design, protocol development, and creation of standard operating procedures.
- Monitor inventory and carry out assigned duties for ordering and maintaining instrument supplies.
- Record and compile accurate records and communicate summaries of experimental results.
- Develop and apply standard quality control procedures to assure quality of test results.
- Participate in meetings with Principal Investigator and research staff to evaluate, interpret the validity of data, develop methodologies and evaluate lab procedures.
- Maintain a daily work schedule to ensure all work is completed in a timely manner.
- Oversee daily lab operation in the absence of the supervisor or Principle Investigator.
Knowledge - Skills - Abilities
- Understanding of general laboratory procedures, scientific approaches, and methodologies is essential.
- Thorough knowledge of cell culture, sterile technique, and cell preparation methodology is required.
- Understanding of the principles of optics, fluidics, and spectral properties associated with laser excitation/emission, principles of fluorescent dye and fluorochrome conjugation is essential.
- Experience with immunological assays, molecular biology techniques, and single-cell technologies is preferred.
- Ability to develop and follow research protocols is required.
- Knowledge of biology, chemistry, mathematics, documentation, and record management.
- Data utilization, complex problem solving, critical thinking, resource management, and writing skills.
- Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
Preferred Schedule:
Full-time role with expectations for coverage during core business hours and flexibility required as necessary to accommodate business needs.
