PAY RANGE

The Target Pay Range for this position is $34.18-$41.78 hourly. The full Pay Range is $26.59-$49.38 hourly. At BECU, compensation decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, and education or training. Should an offer for employment be made, we will consider individual qualifications. In addition to your salary, compensation incentives are available for the hired applicant. BENEFITS

Employees and their eligible family members have access to a wide array of employee benefits, such as medical, dental, vision and life insurance coverage. Employees have access to disability and AD&D insurance. We also offer health care and dependent care flexible spending accounts, as well as health savings accounts, to eligible employees. Employees are able to enroll in our company's 401k plan and employer-funded retirement plan. Newly hired employees accrue 6.16 hours of paid time off (PTO) on a per pay period basis based on hours worked (up to a maximum of 160 PTO hours per year) and receive ten paid holidays throughout the calendar year. IMPACT YOU'LL MAKE:

As a Fraud Investigator at BECU, you'll be the frontline protector of our members' financial well-being. Your work will directly influence how we detect, investigate, and resolve fraudulent activity across a wide range of products-from debit and credit cards to Zelle, checks, external transfers, and new account openings. You'll use your analytical mindset and investigative instincts to uncover fraud, ensure compliance, and deliver timely resolutions that build trust and security for our members. WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Lead Investigations: Dive into fraud cases using internal systems and member interviews to determine outcomes that align with regulatory standards.

  • Balance Multiple Priorities: Manage a diverse caseload across various fraud types, ensuring each is resolved within required timeframes.

  • Spot Patterns and Trends: Analyze both monetary and non-monetary transactions to uncover suspicious activity and support deeper investigations.

  • Analyze Evidence Thoroughly: Review documentation and interview results to assess credibility and reach well-supported conclusions.

  • Apply Regulatory Expertise: Use your knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act, USA Patriot Act, and other regulations to guide investigations and ensure compliance.

  • Escalate Critical Issues: Identify and raise concerns about emerging fraud trends, vulnerabilities, or unusual loss patterns that require broader attention.

  • Support Partners: Provide responsive and professional support via phone and email to internal teams and external partners regarding fraud inquiries.

  • Champion Compliance: Uphold BECU's standards for regulatory, information protection, and ethical conduct in every task you take on.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or equivalent work or educational experience.

  • Typically 2 years' experience in case investigations, or fraud prevention, detection.

  • Verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate and provide customer service.

  • Organizational and problem-solving skills.

  • Full-time availability, with flexibility for additional hours as needed.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Certified Financial Crime Specialist (CFCS) or Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) certification.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, exercising sound judgment.

  • Conceptual and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.

  • Intermediate knowledge of Regulation E, Regulation Z.
