SUMMARY: WR has an opportunity for a Materials Planner to support the development and management of the material supply chain required for production processes. By forecasting demand and coordinating with suppliers, the Materials Planner ensures materials are available when needed to prevent delays and optimize operational efficiency.



Position responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:



  • Estimate and proactively manage project-related material requirements.
  • Develop and implement actions to ensure customer logistics needs are met.
  • Coordinate and execute logistical plans and schedules.
  • Monitor material delivery timelines to ensure alignment with production needs.
  • Review plans and documentation to determine appropriate ordering, inventory, and replenishment levels.
  • Utilize data to reduce overall costs and support lean manufacturing initiatives.
  • Manage inventory flow and resolve material-related or inventory control issues as they arise.
  • Act as a liaison between design/engineering and production teams.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, bills of material, and technical manuals.
  • Perform warehouse control and supervise physical inventory audits.
  • Support preparation of budget estimates as needed.
  • Track project activities, schedules, issues, deliverables, and deadlines.
  • Compile reports and interpret financial data for project planning and performance.
  • Prepare responses to project and program data calls.
  • Record and disseminate project and customer meeting minutes.
  • Track project-related administrative activities.
  • Prepare status reports and conduct data collection and analysis.
  • Draft and distribute project-related correspondence.
  • Track project metrics and provide data and analysis to the Project Manager.
  • Must be willing to work in the main office and visit the lab facility as required.



Candidates must possess the following knowledge, skills, and experience:



  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • (Preferred but not required if the candidate has 6+ years of relevant experience. Equivalent experience may be substituted depending on contractual requirements.)
  • Six (6)+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with demonstrated knowledge of material planning, inventory management, purchasing, or related supply chain operations.
  • Two (2)+ years of contract management experience, including:
  • Development of program acquisition documentation
  • Data collection and analysis
  • Preparation of cost estimates
  • Development of program status reports
  • Knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and DoD procurement policies and procedures is preferred.
