What You've Accomplished

You have completed a High School diploma or equivalent and at least 6 years of directly related experience. Completion of a 2-year machine technology certificate and the completion of a 4-year apprenticeship is strongly preferred. You may have also obtained a journeymen's card are ready to join Framatome and help deliver clean, safe energy and advance nuclear technology.

Your Opportunity

This full-time role is about making an impact on people's lives and the future of clean energy. You will leverage your skills and experience to be part of an innovative team and make a difference for our customers. As a Machinist in Lynchburg, VA, you will be part of the proven team in the Installed Base Business Unit. Your work will include:



  • Performs all duties of this & lower machinist classifications under minimal supervision.
  • May operate CNCs per established methods/programs to consistently produce quality parts at productive rates.
  • May assist in developing conventional & CNC machining procedures & sequences, tools & fixtures.
  • Produces moderately complex to highly complex conventional machined components/tooling to precision tolerances.
  • Inspects work of other machinists as directed by supervisor.
  • Trains and assists lower classification machinists as directed by supervisor.
  • Complies with all plant work rules, regulations and specific instructions, maintains required records, logs & documentation.
  • May perform turning of I.D. and O.D. tapered threads.
  • Identifies & escalates operations problems to the area foreman with objective options for resolution.
  • Occasionally may work with engineering to assist in developing procedures, methods, processes, and tools/equipment.
  • Produces complex conventional machined components/tooling to extreme precision tolerances
  • Occasionally does light to medium programming when requested by supervision.
  • Exercises flexibility in work consistent with this work experience classification.
  • May develop cost estimates for machined and fabricated parts.
  • May program CNC equipment and use of SMARTCAM or similar software.
  • Acts in lead capacity as directed by supervisor.
  • May assist supervision in scheduling work, shifting personnel as work loads fluctuates, resource planning, training, and operation of key equipment.
  • Properly handles hazardous materials,
  • During lull periods of production, may be directed by management to support other business units and may include travel to nuclear sites.
  • To play an active role in creating a safe and healthy workplace and comply with all applicable safety and health rules.

Your Total Rewards Package

The range of base salary for the position is between $33.80 - $44.30 per hour, and may also include annual incentives, performance bonuses and benefits. Please note that the base salary range is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies and work location.
