Job Summary

Provide comprehensive language instruction for graduate students enrolled in university-level English as a Second Language courses.

Essential Job Duties
  • Provide assessment of language abilities of incoming non-native English speaking graduate students during orientation.
  • For non-native English language speakers who need additional language instruction, make a recommendation for the appropriate ESL course.
  • Plan, organize, and provide instruction during the Fall (ESL 101a) and Winter (ESL 101b) terms for students of multiple skill levels in a classroom format. The courses meet for 3 hours per week during each term.
  • Provide intermediate to advanced levels of oral communication skills, development of pronunciation, vocabulary, listening comprehension, and fluency in speaking.
  • Make any necessary recommendations for further instruction or certify fulfillment of the English proficiency requirement.
Basic Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of previous, ESL related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited University or Institute.
  • Previous experience as an ESL instructor in a higher education/University setting.

Hiring Range

$7,500 per course

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
