The Public Information Associate (Director of Marketing & Ticket Sales) within the UIC Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is responsible for providing strategic leadership in the planning, development, and implementation of marketing, fan engagement, and ticket sales initiatives. The position oversees efforts to increase event attendance, generate revenue, and enhance the overall game-day experience. The Director ensures that all initiatives are executed in alignment with departmental goals, institutional values, and NCAA compliance requirements, while advancing visibility and reputation of the UIC Flames brand.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Marketing & Fan Engagement
  • Assist in developing and implementing annual marketing and promotions plans for all UIC Athletics programs, with emphasis on men's and women's basketball.
  • Coordinate traditional, digital and social media marketing campaigns in partnership with Athletics Communications and Creative Services.
  • Create and oversee execution of game-day presentation elements, including music, videos, PA scripts, promotions and sponsor activations.
  • Enhance the fan experience through in-game promotions, theme nights, and interactive elements.
  • Collaborate with event management, band, spirit squad and video production to deliver a cohesive and exciting game-day atmosphere.
  • Engage with campus departments and student organizations to drive student attendance and participation.
  • Develop fan loyalty initiatives to increase retention and repeat attendance.

Ticket Sales & Revenue Generation
  • Aid in all aspects of ticket sales operations, including season tickets, group sales, single-game tickets and premium seating.
  • Develop and execute sales strategies to meet or exceed revenue goals.

Communications/Creative Services
  • Oversee day-to-day communications responsibilities for assigned sports, including shared maintenance of athletics website (UICFlames.com), game notes, programs, recaps, feature stories, statistics and record book updates.
  • Serve as team liaison with media outlets, coordinating interviews with team personnel and developing relationships to assist with coverage of assigned sports.
  • Partner with creative services unit to gather content during practices and game-day events.

Fundraising/Development
  • Design and produce compelling printed and digital content to support targeted fundraising initiatives and campaigns.
  • Partner with the development team to plan, coordinate and execute special events, focusing on strategies that strengthen donor relationships and enhance engagement.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications Required:

  1. Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, radio/television broadcasting, web/digital media, or a related field.
  2. One (1) year (12 months) of professional work experience in public relations, journalism, social media communications, newspaper reporting, radio/television broadcasting with emphasis on production, or web/digital media.
Note: Master's Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year (12 months) of work experience.
