Field-based positions:

Hannaford offers a flexible work environment, with a hybrid work expectation for field-based positions of being physically present in-store and/or a General Office in your territory at least 3 days a week.

Position Summary:

Responsible for managing and leading the planning, execution and follow up of all Capital and Non-Construction Capital Projects (NCCP) for the Hannaford Brand, encompassing five states and over 180 stores. Manage, lead, influence and guide across the functional areas of both Hannaford and Ahold Delhaize USA, including but not limited to, Senior Vice Presidents, Vice Presidents of Category, Merchandising and Pricing, Retail Services, Operations, Brand Strategy, Finance, Marketing, eCommerce, Investment Planning, Real Estate, Site Research, Safety, Store Development, Construction and Maintenance to ensure the proper scoping, management and completion of Capital and NCCP projects. Manage brand NCCP capital including budgeting and execution of projects, influence, and support in the management of total brand capital, independently provide approval for projects up to five hundred thousand with annual budgets ranging upwards of two hundred million dollars combined. Lead and manage the collaboration with Brand leadership to identify, create and prioritize organizational objectives that require Capital funding. Work with Directors and Managers to ensure full understanding of project scope, budgets, guidelines, and requirements for Capital and NCCP projects. Manage and oversee projects to ensure they meet the budgets and guidelines set forth by Ahold Delhaize. Lead the scoping process, influence, and ensure alignment and understanding by Brand Leadership on strategic elements that are most beneficial to project scope based on financial and strategic impacts. Manage and empower a team of three associates to deliver full completion of projects on time and on budget. Manage and prioritize all Capital requests so that maximum efficiency and effectiveness is achieved. Provide frequent and essential communication between all involved areas, assuring alignment of strategic and tactical objectives. Manage, anticipate, and plan for impacts to Retail Operations throughout all Capital and NCCP projects and appropriately inform necessary business partners.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage and lead all Capital and Non-Construction Capital Projects for the Hannaford Brand.
  • Authorized to approve Capital requests, up to five hundred thousand each with an annual budget of upwards of two hundred million.
  • Work directly with business owners from all functional areas across Hannaford Brand, including but not limited to, Senior Vice Presidents, Vice Presidents, Directors, and Managers in Retail Operations (Eastern and Western division), Retail Services, Category, Merchandising and Pricing (CMP), Strategy, Marketing, eCommerce, Store Development, Investment Planning, Finance, Real Estate, Site Research, Safety, and Maintenance to plan, execute and complete organizational priorities and Capital investments.
  • Lead and manage negotiations between business partners to meet project budgets and strategic objectives.
  • Manage, influence, guide and plan with Brand leadership the allocation and distribution of Brand Capital.
  • Manage the process of scope creation, financial approval, project planning and execution of both Brand Capital and NCCP investments, including communication to senior Brand leadership as well as Brand and ADUSA Directors and Managers.
  • Directly responsible for managing and delivering on Brand Capital that is allocated to Fresh, Center Store, Retail Discretionary, Hannaford To Go and Pharmacy and Liquor Acquisitions with budgets ranging up to twenty million.
  • Collaborate with ADUSA partners in managing and delivering Brand Capital allocated to Capital and Facility projects with budgets ranging up to one hundred and seventy million.
  • Coordinate the collaboration among functional area VP's, Directors and Managers across the Brand and ADUSA by leading groups to develop priorities, problem solve, direct project flow, maximize efficiencies and cost savings for the customer, creating alignment with business partners.
  • Provide robust and frequent communication with all business partners and leadership (written and oral).
  • Collaborate with Retail Operations leadership, Hannaford Owner Rep, and General Contractor on any decisions that will impact NCCP projects. Ensure alignment across all impacted areas on any changes in scope and sequence of projects.
  • Maintain and lead an atmosphere of positivity, strong team collaboration and cohesion with a focus on customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure the Retail Projects team develops robust relationships across areas of the business and with all business partners. These relationships will be built on trust and performance and maintain strong business partnerships with all Retail and Office Directors and Managers, Construction Project Managers, Hannaford Owner Representatives and General Contractors.
  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal laws and regulations, company policies, and standard practices.
  • Lead and guide the Retail Projects team to ensure there is solid communication, collaboration and to ensure maximum efficiency and effectiveness of all Capital and NCCP projects.
  • Lead the Retail Projects team to aid in the development of Hannaford customer loyalty, growth of profitable sales, and satisfaction of associates, customers, and shareholders through the duration and upon completion of all projects.
  • Travel to potential acquisitions or new sites to identify transition or conversion cost, create scope and communicate information to various business owners.
  • Travel to all project locations and monitor project progression and performance regularly and follow up on any opportunities or concerns.
  • Provide continuous improvement feedback for future development.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • College degree or equivalent management experience
  • 3-5 years of experience in Retail Management, Project Management and/or Capital/Construction Planning
  • 3-5 years of high-volume retail management experience, preferred
  • Certification in project management or equivalent project management experience
  • Knowledge or experience in one or more of the following areas: Merchandising, Marketing, Real Estate Development, Construction, Design and Project Management
  • Ability to educate, influence and guide senior leadership in the organization through both written and oral means
  • Strong ability to achieve desired results with or without direct authority (proven ability to influence without authority)
  • Strong ability to work collaboratively with multiple areas and levels of the organization

The Salary Range for this Position is $139,120 - $208,680
