DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will be responsible for overseeing an inmate work crew in the performance of tasks related to the operation, maintenance, and repair of a boiler plant within SCI Fayette. This will involve maintaining efficient operations of natural gas hot water and steam boilers under normal and emergency conditions. You will utilize manual and automatic control operation systems, as well as read and interpret visual and aural gauges, meters, and sensing devices. Your duties will include performing scheduled and non-routine maintenance and operational assessments, cleaning equipment, and making minor repairs to ensure proper functionality. Additionally, you will oversee inmate workers in the performance of work assignments and conduct searches of inmate workers and work areas for contraband.

- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM, with a shift differential of $1.25 per hour. Days off will be Sunday and Monday or Friday and Saturday.
- This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $47,925.00 (before taxes). However, a higher salary may be established in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Three years of experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of a steam or hot water generating plant, or a steam and electric generating plant; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirements:
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.

- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
