What to Expect
Tesla is seeking a highly skilled and mission-driven HVAC / R Technician-Facilities to join our Fremont Facilities Operations team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing critical HVAC and refrigeration systems that support Tesla's manufacturing environments. You will work alongside engineers, technicians, and sustainability experts to ensure our systems operate at peak efficiency-supporting Tesla's mission to accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy.

What You'll Do
  • Perform diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance on refrigeration units, air handling systems, chillers, and HVAC infrastructure
  • Monitor system performance using BMS (Building Management Systems) and WebCTRL
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support HVAC needs in production and common space areas
  • Execute root cause analysis and implement long-term solutions for recurring issues
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and energy efficiency standards
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, system performance, and parts inventory
  • Support commissioning of new systems and retrofits of existing infrastructure

What You'll Bring
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with commercial/industrial refrigeration and air handling systems
  • EPA Universal Certification required; additional HVAC/R certifications a plus
  • Proficiency in installing, maintaining, and repairing: Air conditioning units (split, rooftop, and packaged systems),furnaces, boilers, heat pumps, chillers, air handlers, VAVs, and ductwork, thermostats and control systems
  • Experience with VFDs, PLCs, and automated control systems
  • Ability to read and interpret technical schematics, blueprints, and O&M manuals
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, high-tech environments with minimal supervision
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive, safety-first mindset

    Expected Compensation
    $32.00 - $48.27/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
