The Opportunity

The Design & Drafting Technologist acting as a Drafting Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the lifecycle of technical drawings and ensuring the quality, accuracy, and compliance of drafting deliverables. This role acts as a liaison between internal teams, external vendors, and project stakeholders to manage drawing workflows, enforce standards, and support project execution across multiple disciplines.

What you'll do

  • Ensure comprehensive understanding of the Engineering Design & Drafting Services (ED&DS) role and its impact on project outcomes and compliance.

  • Maintain accountability for adhering to all drafting specifications, standards, and procedures.

  • Ensure all drawings comply with company requirements and regulatory standards.

  • Incorporate redlined comments accurately and completely into drafting tasks.

  • Oversee drafting-related aspects of the project lifecycle, ensuring timely and high-quality deliverables.

  • Review drawings for design principles, spatial relationships, and interference checking.

  • Collaborate efficiently with other disciplines for cohesive project results.

  • Assess quality and completeness of 2D drawings derived from 3D models.

  • Review 3D models of plant components, piping systems, and equipment for accuracy and compliance.

  • Manage drawing revisions and change control in the Electronic Document Management System (EDMS) independently.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex root cause issues related to system data and drawing management.

  • Manage multiple projects of moderate complexity, engaging with internal teams and external stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Completion of a 2-3 year technical school program or associate degree in engineering technology.

  • 9+ years of equivalent industry experience.

  • Business knowledge and understanding of customer needs.

  • Effective communication and conflict resolution.

  • Critical thinking, broad problem-solving, and decision-making.

  • Ability to prioritize work, navigate ambiguity, and work within the organization.

  • Proficient in design and drafting fundamentals (mechanical, civil, electrical, etc.).

  • Ability to interact with peers in other disciplines.

  • Proficiency in generating 2D drawings and documentation from 3D models.

  • Ability to create basic 3D models of plant, piping, and equipment components.

  • Strong understanding of software ecosystem, architecture, and interdependencies.

  • Ability to manage drawing revisions and change control in EDMS.

  • Understanding of system data and ability to recommend improvements for data integrity and business results
