DESCRIPTION

Under general supervision, provides protective services to assigned locations, patients, visitors, and staff. Adheres to UCSD Health Sciences and departmental quality service standards. Patrols UCSD Health Sciences premises on foot or in a vehicle to protect life and property. Manages disruptive persons professionally with a minimum use of force; controlsaccess to restricted and security sensitive areas; responds to fire/security alarm activations, assumes scene command in emergency situations; observes and reports safety hazards, gives direction and assistance to UCSD Enterprise clientele.

Provides on the job training to new Security Agents. Assists the Security Training Manager with presenting various security training programs, as needed. Demonstrates familiarity with the job functions of the Security Operations Center, and provides support to the Dispatchers as needed. Performs other duties and functions appropriate to the job classificationas necessary.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Eighteen (18) months experience as HA2 (9251) with UCSDH Security Services; OR Combination of One (1) year as HA2 (9251) AND Three (3) years leadership/supervisory experience in a healthcare, law enforcement, or military-related field OR Three (3) years of security or security-related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Must hold valid driver's license, have a driving record that is in accordance with local policies/ procedures, and/or enroll in the California Employer Pull Notice Program.

  • California Guard Registration.

  • Must possess a current BART & IAHSS advanced certification prior to appointment to HA3.

  • No disciplinary action or attendance-related issues within the last two (2) years.

  • Skills, knowledge, and ability essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.

  • Within 6 months of appointment - Must complete a minimum of 40 hours of training within the Security Operations Center (SOC) and Must successfully complete UCSD Basic Security Ops Center competency exam with a passing score of at least 80%.

  • This position represents step 2 of 3 of the security services security agent career ladder. Incumbents must complete all departmental and organizational required training. To maintain step 2 of the career ladder, agents must keep the following items current within 3 months of being in the step 2 role for 12 months: 1) Taser training, 2) Guard Card certification, 3) Non-Violent Crisis-Intervention, 4) complete SOC exam annually with 80% approval, 5) Detac/Use of Force Training. Failure to comply will result in a downward reclass back to step 1 of the career ladder.

  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $57,399 - $71,347 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $27.49 - $34.17

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
