Senior Auditor / Investigator I Supporting the USAO

Responsibilities


  • Searching electronic databases, preparing interim and final reports, meeting with AUSAs and investigative agencies, and conducting a variety of ancillary investigation-related services in direct support of health care fraud enforcement.
  • Independently plan and conduct health care fraud investigations to determine legal facts
    in matters handled by the U.S. Attorney's Office;
  • Work in conjunction with federal and/or state agencies both within and outside the United States Attorney's Offices' geographical jurisdiction. These agencies include, without limitation, agencies which engage in federal healthcare programs were financial responsibility is a factor. The subjects of the investigations may be individuals or corporations
  • Perform a variety of ancillary health care fraud investigations-related services in direct support of the health care fraud unit of the USAO
  • Performs as a member of an audit team, which includes performing audit steps under the supervision of a Senior Auditor or Supervisor.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Other assignments include


  • Proactively identifying and investigating high impact healthcare fraud targets using data available in Acumen and other
    databases
  • Conducting preliminary investigations
  • Facilitating the district's review of qui tam complaints and reviews healthcare billing databases
  • Assessing whether additional resources should be dedicated to investigating the allegations in the qui tam complaints
  • Preparing interim and final reports on progress of investigations for use by AUSAs and Supervisory attorneys

Requirements


  • Bachelor's Degree (Master's Degree is preferred); Additional experience can be substituted for advance degree requirements.
  • One year of specialized experience working with health care fraud law enforcement matters.
  • Must have at least 20 Years of related experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, word processing, document management, business administration, and data entry;
  • Proficiency with office technology, including but not limited to computers, fax machines, and copier machines;
  • Proficiency in organizational skills and the ability to multitask assignments;
  • Formalized training and certification within a specific expertise/investigative field preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in managing complex Criminal/Civil/National Security/ investigations.
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Understand the rules of evidence and criminal procedure, the admissibility and inadmissibility of evidence and the elements of the crime(s) under investigation.
  • Experience managing within a specific investigative field.
  • Significant experience testifying in court matters.
  • Demonstrated liaison/coordination skills.
  • The ability to pass a Public Trust background investigation


This position requires U.S. Citizenship and a 7 (or 10) year minimum background investigation.
