Description

First Merchants Bank is seeking an Inside Sales Treasury Management Officer to join our team! This position is responsible for driving revenue growth by converting inbound referrals and proactively engaging small business clients through virtual channels. This role focuses on selling standardized treasury management packages, managing a high-volume referral pipeline, and collaborating with the Consumer Bank and Small Business Development Officers to ensure seamless client experience and successful onboarding.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:



  • Sales & Revenue Generation

    • Convert inbound referrals from consumer banking centers and small business development officers into treasury clients.
    • Present and sell standardized treasury management packages tailored to small business needs.
    • Conduct consultative phone or video appointments to uncover needs, position solutions, and close sales.
    • Meet and exceed individual sales and revenue goals, with a strong focus on referral-to close conversion.


  • Client Engagement & Relationship Management

    • Serve as the primary virtual contact for referred small business clients.
    • Maintain high levels of client satisfaction through proactive outreach and responsive service.
    • Conduct periodic account reviews to assess service usage and identify optimization opportunities.


  • Collaboration & Cross-Selling

    • Partner with consumer bankers and small business development officers to support joint sales efforts.
    • Provide treasury expertise during virtual client meetings and internal strategy sessions.
    • Share feedback with product and sales management on client needs and competitive trends.


  • Operational Excellence

    • Coordinate with onboarding and customer service teams to ensure efficient implementation of sold solutions.
    • Maintain accurate records of activities and opportunities in the bank's CRM system.
    • Track performance metrics and identify areas for improvement.




To be successful in this position, we require the following:



  • An associate's degree in management, finance, business, related field of study, OR two (2) years of related work/military experience OR two (2) years of college (plus any additional experience).
  • A minimum of three (3) years of business development, sales or related financial services experience.
  • Valid driver's license; must be able to provide own transportation and travel when necessary.


The following would be a plus:



  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or related field preferred.
  • Strong consultative selling and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex solutions in simple terms.
  • Experience in a preferred referral-based, high-volume sales environment.
  • Proficiency in CRM systems and virtual meeting platforms (e.g., Zoom, Teams).
