GIS Coordinator

The Opportunity:
As a geospatial and data analyst, you thrive on using data, maps, and research to solve complex public health challenges. At Booz Allen, you'll be part of an interdisciplinary team that support our client's programs and partner agencies with advanced GIS and data visualization capabilities. Your expertise will help shape research initiatives, inform environmental health assessments, and communicate findings that impact communities nationwide. With your skills in geospatial analysis, data science, and scientific communication, you'll transform technical data into meaningful insights that advance public health.

As a client-facing data analyst on our Health team, you'll work closely with your clients to understand their questions and needs and then dig into their data-rich environments to find the pieces of their information puzzle. Not only will you provide a deep understanding of their data, you'll also advise your client on what the information means and how it can be used to make an impact on public health.

How You'll Contribute:
As a geospatial research and data analyst on our team, you'll:

  • Manage GIS, public health research, and data analysis workstreams from start to finish.

  • Advise clients and partners on geospatial analysis methods and data visualization approaches.

  • Develop production-quality maps, interactive dashboards, and data visualizations using ArcGIS, Power BI, and related tools.

  • Write and maintain R, Python, and SQL scripts for data wrangling, analysis, and visualization.

  • Gather, refine, and document technical requirements for GIS and data products, often in ambiguous environments.

  • Collaborate with epidemiologists, statisticians, and developers to align geospatial methods with public health research needs.

  • Prepare technical documentation, figures, and manuscripts for scientific publication.

  • Create scientific and plain-language presentations tailored to a variety of audiences.

  • Build strong working relationships with clients, partners, and other stakeholders to move projects forward.

You Have:

  • Experience with Esri ArcGIS Pro or ArcGIS Enterprise tools, such as Experience Builder, StoryMaps, or Dashboards

  • Experience in R or Python, such as Pandas, dplyr, Plotly, ggplot, Geopandas, or sf, for data analysis and visualization

  • Knowledge of MS Power BI and MS Office Suite

  • Knowledge of geographic principles, including map design, projections, and common analytical challenges

  • Knowledge of epidemiology fundamentals and descriptive statistics

  • Knowledge of public health research process, from literature review to publication

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination based on client requirements

  • Bachelor's degree

Nice If You Have:

  • Experience with Section 508 accessibility standards

  • Experience applying spatial statistics, such as autocorrelation, cluster detection, or interpolation

  • Knowledge of project management methodologies, such as Agile or PMI

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $61,900.00 to $141,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees.
