What You Can Expect

As ENGIE's Director of External Communications based in Houston TX, or Denver CO, you will lead the development and execution of strategic communications that enhance the visibility, reputation, and influence of ENGIE North America in the renewable energy sector.

The daily responsibilities of this role include media relations, advocacy communications, thought leadership, public affairs messaging, and stakeholder engagement. Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Government and Regulatory Affairs, the Director will ensure that the company's mission, projects, and leadership are effectively communicated to external audiences including media, investors, policymakers, customers, and the broader public

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Communications




    • You will develop and implement a comprehensive external communications strategy aligned with business goals and corporate values that define audiences, communications channels, and targeted key messages
    • You will position the company as a thought leader and an effective advocate in renewable energy and public policy development



Media & Public Relations




    • You build and manage strong relationships with journalists, editors, analysts, and industry influencers
    • You will serve as the primary spokesperson or prepare executives for media engagements, interviews, and public appearances
    • You coordinate day to day external messaging on key social media channels
    • You proactively identify opportunities for earned media
    • You will manage crisis communications when necessary
    • You provide external communications elements for company website



Advocacy Messaging and Communications




    • You will craft compelling narratives that communicate the company's mission, impact, and leadership in renewable energy policy
    • You oversee the creation and approval of press releases, op-eds, speeches, white papers, and other external communications materials including managing external social media



Stakeholder Engagement




    • You collaborate with government affairs, investor relations, and businessteams to ensure consistent and effective messaging across all external channels
    • You support external partnerships, conferences, and events to elevate the company's advocacy and profile



Team Leadership & Collaboration




    • You act as facilitator / coordinator of external communications network across ENGIE North Americawith business units leads who have communications responsibilities
    • You'll partner with internal communications, sustainability, and marketing teams to align messaging




What You'll Bring



  • You will possess a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field
  • You will have a minimum of ten (10) years of experience in external communications, public relations, or corporate affairs, preferably in energy, sustainability, or technology sectors
  • Youwill have demonstrated success in media relations, thought leadership, and crisis communications
  • You have strong writing, editing, and presentation skills with the ability to distill complex topics into accessible messages
  • You will have established a network of media contacts in energy, business, and policy press
  • You are experienced in coordinating and influencing cross functional teams, developing and managing budgets, and external communications agencies

Additional Details



  • This role requires a valid state issued Driver's License
  • This role is eligible for our hybrid work policy
  • Must be available to travel domestically up to 40% of the time and with the need for some overnight trips
  • Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies


Compensation

Salary Range: $131,000 - $200,790 USD annually

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

ENGIE complies with all federal, state, and local minimum wage laws. Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan.
