This position works under general direction and is responsible for managing the production process and employees on assigned shift to maximize production results and meet Customer demand. This is a hands-on position that is heavily engaged in day-to-day production activities. In this role you'll make an impact by:
Leading and mentoring a team of 8-10 employees by setting expectations, assigning tasks, monitoring performance, and fostering a positive, safe, and productive work environment. Championing a strong safety culture by ensuring compliance with safety standards, addressing issues, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. Managing departmental operations by overseeing schedules, evaluating employee performance, and supporting peers and management as needed. Promoting employee engagement and effective communication through shift meetings, problem resolution, and initiatives such as Heartbeat Survey actions. Hiring, training, and developing team members to ensure alignment with company goals and personal growth opportunities. Driving performance in safety, quality, productivity, cost, and people through lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement tools like 5S, A3, SPS, and Kaizen. Leading and participating in cross-functional and CAPEX projects, including the design, validation, and implementation of new processes and equipment. Ensuring compliance with GMP, Food Safety, and Food Defense guidelines, while providing daily production support and troubleshooting. Reviewing and maintaining accurate production records, addressing customer complaints and audit findings, and implementing corrective actions as needed.
To succeed in this role, you should have:
Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all organizational levels-from operators to executives-and with external contractors. A collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively within a team environment. Sound judgment to make administrative, procedural, or employment-related decisions in a dynamic setting. A working knowledge of continuous improvement principles and their practical application. Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs. Willingness and ability to travel domestically and/or internationally up to 10%, as needed. A bachelor's degree in a business or science-related discipline, along with 1-3 years of supervisory experience (or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience). The physical ability to frequently talk, hear, use hands to handle objects or operate a keyboard, occasionally lift up to 50 lbs, and occasionally stoop, kneel, or crouch. Visual acuity requirements including depth perception, close vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
