Your Opportunity as the Senior Lab Technician, Green Coffee Quality Play a key role in ensuring the quality of our coffee by managing daily lab operations, preparing and evaluating green coffee samples, and supporting flavor analysis. Support hands-on work with global coffee sources while following a path to become a certified Coffee Flavorist. Location: Corporate Offices in Orrville, Ohio Work Arrangements: 100% on-site In this role you will: Daily Lab / Cupping Room operations
Daily prioritization of the samples and testing required to meet daily time pressures. Log and tracking of each individual sample. Complete data analysis and data entry while adhering to testing and methodology protocols to ensure that the data collected is reliable and accurate for all required QC tests. Leverage Oracle purchasing, and inventory systems to identify and prioritize daily work Support the Cupping Room schedule to ensure adequate QC coverage to meet the business requirements
Technical and Analytical
Prepare samples for various laboratory tests and entering results into business systems. Complete technical testing of incoming raw materials and evaluate the raw materials for adherence to purchasing specifications. Support Lab equipment maintenance and calibrations & other quality requirements with Corporate Quality lab. Support Data Co-ops with internal sites to ensure calibration between the sites. Participate in why-why analysis, troubleshooting, and Quality investigations related to samples Accountable for key quality results and systems. Owns lab systems and Quality Key Elements
Coffee Flavorist Trainee
Qualify as a Green Coffee Flavorist responsible for the flavor analysis of green coffee components and blends. Prepare and complete evaluations of green coffee deliveries, green coffee inventory, flavor standards, and soluble powders. Complete 1-2 years of cupping calibration, including completion of 54 blind cupping comparisons and complete knowledge of over 100 source country coffee's and the attributes of those coffees.
Organizational
Prepare samples for supplier visits from source countries around the world. Provide support for Coffee College Develop & implement work process improvement projects Work collaboratively with Green Coffee Sub-teams & External contacts (Planning, Materials, Projects, Silo, Key Vendors/Suppliers)
