Microsoft is seeking experienced Level 3 and Level 4 Data Center Technicians to support high-performance InfiniBand (IB) and GPU infrastructure deployments across its global data center footprint. These roles are critical to enabling cutting-edge AI workloads and hyperscale compute environments.
Technicians will be responsible for hands-on installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of advanced hardware systems, with a focus on performance, reliability, and scalability. Key Responsibilities: * Deploy, cable, and validate InfiniBand networks and GPU clusters in production and lab environments. * Perform advanced hardware installations including servers, switches, and specialized compute nodes. * Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to IB fabric connectivity, GPU performance, and system integration. * Collaborate with engineering teams to support system bring-up, firmware upgrades, and validation testing. * Maintain accurate documentation of deployments, configurations, and incident resolutions. * Ensure compliance with Microsoft's data center standards and operational procedures. * Mentor junior technicians and provide escalation support for complex technical issues. * Participate in on-call rotations and respond to critical incidents as needed. Required Qualifications: * 3+ years (Level 3) / 5+ years (Level 4) of experience in data center operations or hardware support. * Strong hands-on experience with InfiniBand, NVIDIA GPUs, and high-performance compute systems. * Familiarity with cabling standards, rack layouts, and airflow management. * Proficiency in Linux-based systems and basic networking concepts. * Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and documentation. * Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. * Strong communication and collaboration abilities. Preferred Qualifications: * Experience supporting AI/ML workloads or HPC environments. * Familiarity with RDMA, CUDA, and GPU monitoring tools. * Certifications such as CompTIA Server+, Network+, or vendor-specific credentials (e.g., NVIDIA, Mellanox). * Prior experience in a hyperscale or cloud data center environment. *Pay and Benefits* The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $46.50/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
