Join IMEG as a Building Intelligence & Integration Engineering Intern in Naperville, IL, and power your career with innovative, real-world project experience. Over 10-12 weeks, you'll contribute to the analysis, design, proof-of-concept validation, and implementation oversight of low-voltage technology systems. You'll collaborate with experienced engineers, manage tasks within project budgets, and see how your work helps achieve client goals-while building the skills, knowledge, and professional network to launch your future in technology integration and smart building systems. Principal Responsibilities Assist with technology system design per code and IMEG standards Research commercially available equipment and design resources Support client relations and maintain project documentation Document design decisions, meetings, and client instructions Monitor design progress and maintain project notebooks Review project documents for accuracy and completeness Assist with technology lab implementation and testing Create smart building use case narratives and documentation libraries Conduct job site observations and support contract services Required Qualifications and Skills Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Architecture, or equivalent required Prior internship experience in the building design consulting or construction industry preferred Strong interest in design consulting and/or smart buildings Proficient with MS Office Suite including, but not limited to, SharePoint, Teams, Word, Excel, and Outlook Experience with technology integration protocols and systems is a plus Understanding of Agile Framework concepts Desire to innovate and question the status quo Understanding of basic networking, operating systems and software applications a plus Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups This position is not eligible for sponsorship. Building Intelligence & Integration Team Highlights: Help design and integrate intelligent building systems that connect HVAC, lighting, security, and occupancy data into unified platforms Work with smart building technologies such as IoT sensors, automation tools, advanced analytics, and digital twin modeling Collaborate with experienced engineers to deliver real-time, data-driven solutions that improve energy efficiency, comfort, and facility operations Contribute to award-winning intelligent building projects, such as the Denver Water campus, where integrated systems enhanced performance and user experience Locations available: Naperville, IL Salary Range $22.00 - $24.00/hour. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay will be based on several factors including experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant.
