Overview
This is a hybrid role, with the expectation that time working will regularly take place inside and outside of a company office based in New Jersey. The AVP Underwriting Portfolio Manager - Asset Based Lending is responsible for the underwriting as well as portfolio management of Asset Based Lending (ABL) financing transactions. Responsible for analysis, reporting, and purchase or liquidation of assets within the portfolio. Monitors regulatory requirements and market trends, and modifies strategies as needed. Performs all activities to maximize value while minimizing risk, developing reports, dashboards, and other methods of evaluation to communicate status with the appropriate stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Underwriting - Underwrites ABL accounts according to applicable regulations, procedures, and guidelines. Reviews financial statements, communicates with clients or prospects, and performs analysis to recommend borrower risk ratings and appropriate loan structuring. Ensures all involved parties are updated on underwriting progress and outcome. May provide guidance to less experienced underwriters through knowledge of underwriting procedures and information needs.
- Portfolio Management - Manages assigned portfolio by monitoring performance and trends, proactively defining client credit solutions, identifying issues and following through for remediation. Responsible for risk rating integrity, annual reviews as well as financial statement spreading, compliance and regulatory review. Manages all amendment and waivers in the assigned portfolio.
- Client Service - Maintains ongoing communication and contact with assigned loan clients. Fortifies relationships and monitors client satisfaction.
- Analysis - Sources, compiles, and interprets financial data to support structuring and approval of loans. Reviews industry information and comparisons, key risks and mitigants, and collateral to form a general business overview of the borrower. Utilizes results of analysis to underwrite loans.
- Risk Management - Identifies risks through reviews, analysis, and research of new and existing loans. Works closely with Bank associates and partners to resolve risk issues, communicating review schedule and potential changes in the portfolio. Assists in coordinating review and renewal schedules for existing credits, facilitating ongoing risk identification and management.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree and 4 years of experience in Credit analysis, underwriting or Risk Management OR High School Diploma or GED and 8 years of experience in Credit analysis, underwriting or Risk Management Preferred:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance or related subject
- 3 years of Asset Based and / or Specialty Finance Lending experience for loans with borrowing base structures.
- Experience with analysis of third party field exam, appraisal and / or investment valuation reports.
- 2 years portfolio management experience.
- Ability to support new underwriting opportunities from customer introduction through credit approval and legal documentation.
- Formal credit training
The base pay for this position is generally between $120,000.00 and $140,000.00. Actual starting base pay will be determined based on skills, experience, location, and other non-discriminatory factors permitted by law.
