Overview
This is a hybrid role (if located in Charlotte, NC, or Raleigh, NC) with the expectation that time working will regularly take place inside and outside of a company office. Two days a week in office. Open to remote in several markets for highly qualified candidate. This Audit Project Manager II position is responsible for overseeing and managing audits and projects within the Business and Commercial Services Internal Audit team. Working independently and utilizing strong business acumen, technical expertise and strong project management skills. This role will lead or serve as Auditor-in-Charge on complex audit engagements and provide day-to-day leadership, coaching and guidance to engagement team members driving high quality, effective and timely execution of audit engagements, deadlines, budgets, and project plans.
Responsibilities
- Audit Execution - Works independently with minimal oversight and manages end-to-end audit engagements applying advanced understanding of audit methodology including defining scope, overseeing planning, and audit execution. Key planning responsibilities include driving risk-based auditing by assisting in defining scope, objectives and testing strategy, leading meetings and requesting documents. Key Fieldwork responsibilities include: Managing the fieldwork phase by leading project team, ensuring thorough testing of control design and effectiveness, and addressing emerging issues driving completion in a timely manner while conforming with Internal Audit standards and methodologies. Key Reporting responsibilities include: Reviews completed workpapers, drafts audit reports, management memos and finalizes test results. Key Wrap-Up responsibilities include: May lead or assist in conducting lessons learned meetings and exit meetings to discuss findings and ensuring audit clients agreement on remediation plans. Prepare or update risk assessments or participate in continuous monitoring activities.
- Governance, Risk and Controls - Using strong knowledge of risk and control concepts, assist in or oversee executing testing of controls to assess adequacy of control design and operating effectiveness managing risk to the Bank, and recommending process improvements to strengthen internal control environment. Apply strong line of business and industry knowledge to keep current on emerging risks. Set clear expectations on ensuring timely delivery, adherence to applicable laws, rules and regulations, internal audit policies and methodologies, and in alignment with regulatory expectations.
- Builds Productive Relationships - Foster and cultivate collaborative and trust based working relationships with audit clients, peers and audit leadership. Begins building influential relationships with Audit Leadership and clients. Demonstrate curiosity about different cultures, values, beliefs and approaches
- Leadership - Demonstrate a continuous improvement mindset by seeking and applying feedback from others. Mentor and proactively guide junior auditors while promoting an inclusive and collaborative environment without administrative authority. Lead work efforts and provides guidance and coaching on day-to-day audit project activities, including end of project feedback. Demonstrate commitment to organizational culture, holding team and self, accountable for results and monitoring for change resistance. Maintain relevant professional certification.
- Judgement and Decision Making - Demonstrate critical thinking skills by appropriately analyzing information and use reasoning skills to arrive at valid conclusions. Exercise sound, risk-based, free from bias judgment in drawing conclusions and escalating concerns. Effectively challenge consistently and confidently by questioning assumptions and challenging the status quo Distinguish between control deficiencies, process improvements and significant risks.
- Technology and Innovation - Apply data analytics principles to testing approaches as well as using other innovative tools and methodologies to work more efficiently (e.g. Data Analytics, full population testing, etc.) and effectively. Exhibit a growth mindset for taking unique or creative approaches and finding new ways of doing things.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of experience in Public accounting or Bank internal auditing OR High School Diploma or GED and 10 years of experience in Public accounting or Bank internal auditing License or Certification Type: Designation as a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Information Security Auditor (CISA), or Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or other relevant industry certifications. Required Skills: Knowledge of internal and external laws, policies, and procedures regulating Internal Audit actions, Microsoft Office Suite, Data Analytics Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of major regulatory areas of focus, including banking, systems, regulations, and audit procedures, Microsoft Office Suite skills, Data Analytics
- Experience auditing in the following areas: core treasury payment product management and strategy, trade finance and/or Small Business Administration (SBA), for financial institutions.
If hired in New York the base pay for this position is generally between $101,000 and, $165,000. Actual starting base pay will be determined based on skills, experience, location, and other non-discriminatory factors permitted by law. For some roles, total compensation may also include variable incentives, bonuses, benefits, and/or other awards as outlined in the offer of employment.
