Job Description

The Inside Sales Supervisor oversees the inside sales team ensuring a high level of customer service, profitability, and leads team to grow divisional sales.



  • Supervises inside sales force of sales/customer service professionals.
  • Assists with the development of strategic changes in both the Minnesota Coil and Plate Division's sales strategy.
  • Assists in the effective resolution of complex customer issues.
  • Ensures high-quality customer service--on-time delivery according to customer specifications.
  • Supports division initiatives focused on process improvement and Flawless Execution (Fe).
  • Ensures proper training and development of sales team.
  • Responds to customer inquiries in a timely manner, treating customers courteously.
  • Discusses material and processing requirements with customers and suggest value-added options/solutions based on customer requirements, including applicable types, grades, sizes, tolerances, processing possibilities, packaging and delivery.
  • Develops individual quotes and/or contract pricing with input from General Manager, Sales Manager and Field Sales Representatives as needed.
  • Leads team to enters accurate and thorough customer information, including customer records, sales orders, part specs, production specifications, packaging information, and claim forms.
  • Reviews customer forecasts and consumption with ISRs.
  • Expedite orders with short lead times or unusual requirements and review production backlogs with production planning supervisor.
  • Prepares accurate and thorough customer stocking program, sales and customer reports.
  • Elicits feedback from customers regarding products, services, pricing, overall performance, and status of open quotes to monitor customer satisfaction.
  • Works to position Olympic Steel as the supplier of choice in future business transactions.
  • Keeps Outside Sales, Sales Management and others (as necessary) informed of all pertinent customer information, including unusual orders, inquiries, adding new facilities/equipment, bidding on large jobs, work stoppages, other.
  • Develops divisional sales through managing cold call campaigns.
  • Enforces completion of open orders due reports from all ISRs.
  • Able to quickly make decisions regarding pricing and inventory availability to assist with quotes.


Pay Range: $70,000 - $85,000 annually

Qualifications



  • Bachelor's Degree or related experience
  • Knowledge of customer service standards, products and procedures.
  • Skilled at MS Word, PowerPoint, MS Excel applications and production control computer systems.
  • 5+ years of related experience
  • Ability to learn systems and how to extract and summarize data using multiple program(s)


  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, with strong Excel skills
  • Strong statistical analysis skills
  • Experience in fabrication
