Stanley Consultants is currently looking for a Senior Technical Designer.
The Senior Technical Designer performs duties like those of a Technical Designer but with responsibilities that cover a broader scope and greater complexity, including oversight of additional Project Team members. This role involves providing technical expertise to assigned projects, focusing on the analysis, evaluation, and resolution of specific design problems. The Senior Technical Designer is accountable to the Project Manager and Discipline Approver, ensuring that the discipline output and the project results dependent on this output meet the required standards.

What You Will Be Doing:
  • Determine client requirements and develop various technical documents such as reports, specifications, drawings, instructions and related documents to meet client needs effectively.
  • Prepare and modify reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, environmental impact studies and permits.
  • Evaluate need for design changes and make appropriate recommendations.
  • Serve as technical liaison with clients on projects, ensuring clear communication and coordination of technical efforts within specific disciplines to meet project objectives and client expectations.
  • Assist in pricing, estimating, scoping and marketing strategies for proposed projects to ensure they are competitive and align with market demands and company capabilities.
  • Consult with construction personnel to discuss design constructability as related to field conditions, sequencing and scheduling of construction activities.
  • Participate in client communications and attend both onsite and offsite meetings to discuss project specifics and requirements.
  • Help in developing probable design cost estimates and contribute to the preparation of project budgets.
  • Visit construction sites to monitor progress and ensure compliance with contract documents.
  • Utilize computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare project documentation.
  • Perform occasional drafting tasks as needed.
  • Maintain adherence to the company's quality assurance and quality control standards as outlined in the quality manual.
Required Qualifications:
  • Education: High School diploma, with some college preferred.
  • Certifications: None
  • Experience: Minimum of 12 years of experience in engineering discipline.
  • Skills: Demonstrated understanding of Stanley Consultants project management procedures. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, proficient in design software, excellent communication and project management abilities. Work within general procedures, requiring frequent judgement and initiative.
Managerial Scope: Varying degrees of supervisory responsibility at the project or task level. May involve planning, scheduling, coordinating and overseeing the work of task leads or lower-level engineers or technicians who assist with specific projects.
Physical Requirements: Frequently required to sit for extended periods; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; talk and hear. Occasionally required to stand, walk or reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds.
Work Environment: Primarily office-based with occasional visits to project sites as needed for assessments, meetings and on-site evaluations.
Stanley's Approach to Flexibility
While some members choose to work out of their local office on a full-time basis, we offer a hybrid schedule for eligible positions consisting of two days a week in the office, two days a week remotely, and Friday being a flexible day that can be worked either in the office or at home. Eligible roles can also offer a compressed workweek schedule. Members who participate will be assigned a 9/80 work schedule, meaning every other Friday off!
