This position is accountable for new Medical and Ancillary account sales through brokerage agencies, consulting firms and direct clients.
  • Sells new business within designated market (Mid-Size 100 to 500) to potential accounts and working towards sales goals while ensuring the sale of prudent profitable business.

  • Develops prospective accounts and clients

  • Maintains and develops broker and consultant relationships.

  • Informs and educates clients and brokers on Horizon Products and Services.

  • Ensures clients and brokers are informed of relevant legislative and regulatory issues and their associated impact.

  • Responds to Request for Proposal (RFPs) and produces sales proposals in conjunction with the proposal team.

  • Contributes ideas to management on improving marketing and sales efforts.

  • Participates in ongoing sales training to enhance skills in group insurance, presentation skills, and products.

  • Works closely with Account Managers on new business implementation.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Education/Experience

  • Minimum high school diploma or GED.

  • Requires a bachelor's degree preferred.

  • Requires a minimum of five (5) years of professional sales experience, preferably in the health insurance industry, with a documented track record of success.

  • Prefers knowledge of Self-Funding, Stop Loss, and TPA arrangements.

Additional licensing, certifications, registrations

  • Requires a valid NJ drivers license.

  • Requires a New Jersey State Health/Life License.

Knowledge

  • Must be proficient and possess advanced skills in the use of personal computers and supporting software in a Windows based environment, including MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Lotus Notes;

  • Should be knowledgeable in the use of intranet and internet applications.

  • Prefers knowledge of Horizon BCBSNJ dental, vision products and underwriting policies, including all funding mechanisms

Travel (If Applicable)
Travel throughout New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania is required.

Horizon BCBSNJ employees must live in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut or Delaware

Salary Range:

$86,200 - $106,365

This position is eligible for sales incentive compensation in addition to base pay. This compensation range is specific to the job level and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to: education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. This range has been created in good faith based on information known to Horizon at the time of posting. Compensation decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each case.
