Job Title: Strategic Account Manager - Industrial Automation
Department: Sales

About the Role

Molex is seeking a Strategic Account Manager - Industrial Automation who thrives at both hunting new OEM opportunities and growing strategic accounts. This hybrid role is ideal for a sales professional who understands the automation ecosystem and can blend technical expertise with commercial acumen.

You will be responsible for identifying and developing new business at mid-tier OEMs and system integrators, while scaling long-term relationships that drive sustainable growth. With a focus on Material Handling, Food & Beverage, and Factory Automation, this role offers the opportunity to shape how Molex delivers next-generation automation solutions to the market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive new account acquisition by identifying and engaging target OEMs and integrators.
  • Grow existing customer relationships through consultative selling and value-based account management.
  • Develop expert-level knowledge of Molex's Industrial Automation portfolio (PLCs, robotics, motion, sensors, industrial networks) to present tailored solutions.
  • Build a robust sales pipeline aligned to business objectives, with 6-12 month sales cycles.
  • Collaborate with product management and technical teams to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Represent Molex at industry events, trade shows, and customer visits, promoting solutions and securing specifications.
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms to achieve win-win outcomes.
  • Deliver accurate sales forecasts and insights to management.
  • Stay current on emerging trends such as Industry 4.0, IIoT, and AI-driven automation.

Who You Are

A self-motivated, results-driven sales professional with deep knowledge of industrial automation who can confidently navigate both engineering and sourcing discussions. You thrive on winning new business, strengthening partnerships, and building solutions that create long-term customer value.

Key Traits for Success

  • Background in industrial automation sales (PLCs, robotics, motion, sensors, industrial communications).
  • Experience selling to OEMs or integrators (not just through distribution).
  • Ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles (6-12 months).
  • Proven track record of business development and account growth.
  • Strong balance of technical and commercial skills (engineer-turned-sales or seasoned automation rep).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or 2+ years or sales experience in industrial automation.
  • Familiarity with Rockwell/Allen-Bradley or similar automation ecosystems.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites, events, and industry engagements.
For this role, we anticipate paying $70,000- $90,000 per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
