Essential Job Duties
This position serves as a Microsoft Systems Administrator for NC State University's critical, campus level Azure/Entra, JAMF/Apple School Manager based enterprise infrastructure services.

Duties include:

  • Provide critical, campus level Microsoft Entra ID expertise, including, but limited to:

    • Understanding, and permissioning Entra enterprise and Single Sign On (SSO) apps appropriately.
    • Properly/appropriately assign permissions to various Azure resources, such as subscriptions, Administrative Units, resource groups, Fabric domains and workgroups.



  • Provide critical, campus level Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform in Microsoft Azure.

    • To apply security baselines across various Azure subscriptions using IaC.
    • To support application environments (e.g., SAS Viya) deployed with IaC in a secure, scalable manner.


  • Provide critical, campus level Apple endpoint support using JAMF and Apple School Manager (ASM)

    • To support managing the various JAMF sites NC State has; to communicate to campus various vendor communications, such as upgrades, outages, and changes in the service.
    • To open support tickets with JAMF if/when issues arise.
    • To provide application packaging for Mac.
    • To be a liaison to other Universities in the North Carolina higher education system.


  • Provide Active Directory/group policy/Organizational Unit administration expertise in a highly delegated environment.

Other Responsibilities

  • Serve in an on-call rotation schedule.
  • Create and update project and task documentation ongoing to management.
  • Respond to and manage campus support requests from customers in a timely manner with status updates within the support ticketing system.

Qualifications






Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree with at least two years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and relevant experience.
Other Required Qualifications

  • System administration experience with Entra ID / Azure / Microsoft 365 environments. Configuring Azure cloud resources for both IaaS and PaaS.
  • Knowledge of endpoint management suites, e.g., JAMF, Config Manager, and Entra/Intune.
  • Experience with system administration for a large-scale Windows and Active Directory infrastructure, group policy, LDAP, Kerberos. (~1,000+ users).
  • Working knowledge of networking, including IP routing, subnetting and firewall rule definitions.
  • Knowledge of and experience with security best practices and technologies.
  • Experience scripting system administration tasks in PowerShell.

  • Managing cloud infrastructure environments with IaC
  • Apple Mac & Linux administration experience
