Henry Ford Health, one of the nation's premier academic and integrated health systems, is seeking a Director of Corporate Reimbursement to lead critical financial functions that directly impact the organization's mission and growth. Reporting to the Vice President of Contracting, Reimbursement & Revenue Integrity, this role is responsible for shaping and overseeing reimbursement strategies across Henry Ford Health's hospitals and post-acute care facilities.
This is a highly visible position that plays a central role in ensuring accurate net revenue reporting, compliance with complex payer regulations, and optimization of financial performance. Building on a strong legacy-including securing substantial COVID relief funds, advancing rural hospital redesignations, and implementing innovative valuation tools-this leader will also help guide the organization through enterprise modernization efforts. These include the implementation of Kodiak RCA and Toyon Absolute, as well as large-scale ERP and bank account conversions, all of which require thoughtful integration of reimbursement practices into systemwide financial strategies.
The Director will serve as a trusted partner to executive leadership, providing insight, foresight, and collaboration across the health system.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Reporting
- Preparation of third-party cost reports and other regulatory filings.
- Oversee reporting and reconciliation of general ledger accounts related to third-party payments and settlements, including receivables, payables, and reserves, leveraging tools such as Kodiak RCA and Toyon Absolute to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
- Lead preparation of monthly net revenue calculations and forecasts, reviewing with the Vice President prior to financial statement deadlines.
- Provide analysis of net revenue impacts and forecasts to inform systemwide financial planning.
Regulatory Compliance & Audit Oversight
- Plan and coordinate third-party audits and appeals, as well as quarterly and year-end financial audits.
- Maintain deep expertise in Medicare, Blue Cross, Medicaid, and other reimbursement regulations, ensuring organizational compliance.
- Evaluate changes in reimbursement regulations and develop related impact analyses.
Collaboration, Education & Strategic Insight
- Serve as a subject matter expert, providing education and consultation to staff and leadership on reimbursement regulations and strategies.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to strengthen financial decision-making and operational alignment, including supporting enterprise initiatives such as ERP and bank account conversions.
- Contribute to the development of systemwide strategies that optimize reimbursement and enhance organizational sustainability.
Leadership & Team Development
- Provide direction, support, and coaching to team members to achieve departmental and organizational goals.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the Corporate Reimbursement function.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance with a Master's degree preferred
- Approximately ten (10) years of progressive experience in healthcare reimbursement is required
- Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and a thorough understanding of third party reimbursement mechanisms
- Working knowledge of Kodiak RCA net revenue and AR valuation reporting
- Working knowledge of the full Revenue Cycle process and implications on net revenue and accounts receivable valuation
- Ability to communicate in clear, concise terms
- Well developed conceptual and analytical skills
- High level of interpersonal, management and organizational skills
