The position will apply academic knowledge and practical experience to real-world situations related to process engineering and water and wastewater treatment for a diverse national private and public sector client base, while also learning and expanding the business skills needed for a successful consulting career.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Process engineering and design;
  • Developing engineer's cost estimates for water and wastewater projects;
  • Data entry and analysis;
  • Performing and overseeing detailed water/wastewater process engineering design on a variety of project types and geographies;
  • Applying innovative treatment processes for mitigating polluting contaminants, including emerging contaminants;
  • Preparation of technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications and proposals;
  • Conducting or overseeing field investigations and construction support services;
  • Contributing to multi-disciplinary project teams, including internal and external;
  • Water, wastewater, and soil remedy evaluations, cost estimation, design calculations, and implementation;
  • Fieldwork such as site inspections, water, wastewater, and soil sampling, treatment/remediation system design, drilling and contractor oversight, construction support services, and operations and maintenance (25%);
  • Chemical data and contaminant fate & transport evaluation;
  • Environmental regulatory compliance services and permitting; and
  • Conducting environmental regulatory compliance services and permitting;
  • Data analysis and management, including databases, preparing drawings, maps, tables, and figures.
  • Consistent with our sell-manage-do business model, play a role supporting lead generation, business development, staff development, and mentoring.
  • Help broaden our reputation via publishing and visibility at prominent industry conferences.
  • Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed.


Education and Licensure

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental, civil, or chemical engineering. (required)
  • Advanced degree in the same. (preferred)
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification. (preferred)


Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • Excellent writing and communication skills. (preferred)
  • Prior research experience in designing, conducting, and evaluating the results of laboratory treatability studies, or equivalent combination of education and experience. (preferred)
  • Proficient at Microsoft Excel and other database and statistical analysis software (preferred)
  • Experience with specialized process engineering software such as InfoWater, BioWin, WaterGEMS, WaterCAD and/or AutoCAD. (preferred)
  • Prior internship experience in environmental consulting. (preferred)
  • Field work and overnight travel may be required.
  • Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers. (preferred)
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be required.
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
