About Duke Health's Patient Revenue Management Organization

Pursue your passion for caring with the Patient Revenue Management Organization, which is Duke Health's fully integrated, centralized revenue cycle organization that supports the entire health system in streamlining the revenue cycle. This includes scheduling, registration, coding, billing, and other essential revenue functions.

ONSITE POSITION: Monday - Friday (8:00am - 4:00pm)

Occupational Summary
Coordinate and participate in a variety of duties associated with the daily clinic preparation process, patient identification, check-in/out, and appointment scheduling. This role provides essential administrative support for Cancer Genetics, ensuring smooth clinic operations, timely scheduling, effective communication, and cross-coverage across specialty programs. During times of low clinic volume, this position may support other clinics in the Duke Cancer Institute's Supportive Care & Survivorship Center.
After a period of training and at manager discretion, this position may have opportunities for a hybrid (work-from-home) work arrangement, 2-3 days each week.
Work Performed
* Referrals, Patient Scheduling, & Communication
o Review and process high-volume incoming referrals from Duke providers, affiliated practices, external providers, and self-referrals.
o Schedule new and follow-up visits across multiple providers and clinics within supportive care and survivorship services.
o Coordinate ancillary testing, multidisciplinary appointments, and ongoing surveillance visits as needed.
o Manage high patient call and message volume, providing clear and compassionate communication to patients about appointments, preparation, and billing.
* Clinic Support & Documentation
o Greet patients at clinic front desk and complete check-in procedures, verifying demographics, insurance, and required forms in Maestro Care.
o Maintain accurate clinic records and distribute required forms, questionnaires, or documentation to patients.
o Provide real-time support to providers and nursing staff through message distribution, chart preparation, and coordination of care.
* Data & Quality Support
o Assist with data entry into electronic health record and genetics specialty system to support quality monitoring and reporting.
o Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance patient access, efficiency, and clinic operations.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
* Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage high referral volume and multiple competing priorities.
* Excellent written and verbal communication, with emphasis on patient education and coordination.
* Familiarity with medical terminology and Epic Maestro Care strongly preferred.
* Ability to interact tactfully with patients, providers, and multidisciplinary teams while maintaining accuracy and efficiency.

Education
Work requires knowledge of basic grammar and mathematical principles normally acquired through high school education

Experience
Minimum of one year of work experience in directly communicating and activities. Providing service to patients or public; preferably in a healthcare related field. Experience in effectively coordinating multiple tasks
