Job Overview:

The Manager of Clinical Nutrition provides strategic and operational leadership for the clinical nutrition program across all settings of CSH, inpatient rehab, long term care units, and outpatient. This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of nutritional care, ensuring that services meet the complex medical, developmental, and psychosocial needs of children with unique and chronic health care needs. The Manager leads a team of registered dieticians and collaborates closely with medical, nursing, therapy, and food services departments to deliver evidence based, family centered nutritional care that supports optimal health and long-term outcomes. Demonstrates both analytical and creative approaches to management of complex patient care and serves as a clinical resource, mentor and consultant for multidisciplinary staff.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Nutrition or Dietetics from an accredited college or university
  • Registered Dietician with Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics
  • American Heart Association of Nutrition and Dietetics
  • Five years experience in clinical nutrition with two years in pediatrics, including management of diabetes
  • Evidence of excellent verbal and written English communication skills
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with others
  • Concentration and customer sensitivity required for the assessment, planning and implementation of clinical and departmental responsibilities

Preferred:

  • Care of children with medical complexity
  • Supervisory experience
  • Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist CDCES certification

Certifications and Licenses Required:

  • Registered Dietician with Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics
  • American Heart Association of Nutrition and Dietetics

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Full-Time
  • 40 hours/week

Essential Functions:

  • Plans, organizes, directs and supervises Clinical Nutrition activities
  • Develops and administrates Clinical Nutrition department budgets according to hospital guidelines
  • Ensures that adequate staff, space, equipment and other resources are available to provide department services
  • Ensures excellence of evaluations, treatment recommendation and discharge planning through periodic review and monitoring of documentation
  • Hires, evaluates department staff according to Hospital policies and procedures
  • Responsible for new staff orientation and ongoing competency
  • Updates job descriptions
  • Assures that all clinical staff deadlines are met
  • Coordinates departmental performance improvement projects
  • Develops, revises, evaluates and implements departmental policies and procedures
  • Motivates staff to continuously improve their performance and encourages in them a sense of ownership of their work and of the performance of the department
  • Provides opportunities for staff input and participation in the operation and direction of the department
  • Maximizes potential of self and staff by supporting professional growth
  • Promotes an environment that embraces knowledge, innovation and improvement
  • Develops, implements and updates departmental and Hospital policies and procedures to guide and support the provision of high-quality nutritional services that are family focused and compliant with regulatory and accrediting agencies including American Diabetes Association and The Joint Commission
  • Ensures care meets patients' cultural and religious needs as medically possible
  • Collaborates with other members of the healthcare team in integrating and communicating nutrition care principles
  • Coordinates affiliations with Dietetic Internship programs
  • Manages a clinical caseload as needed
