Scope of Position The Ohio State University Medical Center is committed to improving access and service to customers. The Manager functions as an integral member of the health care team to reflect a culture of cooperation, enthusiasm and mutual respect. The Manager operationalizes the strategic plan of the Medical Center to improve access and services to our customers (consumers and physicians) through centralized scheduling and to ensure reimbursement of hospital services provided. Accurate data is gathered to ensure that proper scheduling is completed for patients being seen at the James. May be responsible for supporting other areas (financial counseling, pre-certification and registration). Ability to work with multiple different computer systems with different rules and operational methods essential. Must be able to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Position Summary The Manager is responsible for managing, guiding, coaching and evaluating the work performance of the staff in Patient Access for the James. Ongoing collaboration with customers who relate directly or indirectly to the department is essential. The Manager assumes primary responsibility for the direct management of staff. The Manager is responsible for monitoring and ensuring the accuracy of scheduling and efficacy of processes through reports, collecting and coordinating QA data, process analysis and monitoring, developing reporting mechanisms and measuring customer satisfaction. The Manager has an integral role in managing projects related to the product line. The Manager will resolve identified issues and continually move towards improved outcomes. The Manager assists with the development of budgets, implementation of new programs, assures the development of outcome measurements and assures compliance with JCAHO standards and other regulatory agencies. Serves in place of the Assistant Director when unavailable for customers, other departments and staff. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Advanced degree may be desirable. 5 years of relevant experience required. 8-12 years of relevant experience preferred.
