Now, we're entering a new phase of growth and are looking for a Facilities Technician to keep our buildings, systems, and grounds in peak condition. This role combines hands-on maintenance, preventive upkeep, and vendor coordination with participation in our facility security program. Success in this role means the PDW team can operate safely and efficiently, with minimal downtime and maximum readiness.

What You'll Do


  • Perform maintenance, repairs, and inspections on building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general facilities.
  • Conduct regular facility and security walk-throughs to identify repair needs, safety hazards, and compliance issues.
  • Carry out preventive maintenance programs for equipment, systems, and infrastructure.
  • Respond promptly to urgent maintenance needs and serve as on-call support for after-hours facility issues.
  • Participate in facility security operations, including monitoring systems, assisting with security procedures, and reporting concerns.
  • Coordinate with and oversee vendor services for repairs, pest control, landscaping, and other contracted work.
  • Assist with space setup, furniture assembly, and office/production reconfigurations as needed.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and supply inventory; request replenishments when necessary.
  • Support safety inspections and ensure compliance with OSHA, ADA, EPA, and other applicable regulations.
  • Maintain accurate logs of maintenance activities, inspections, and service records.
  • Occasionally pick up building supplies or materials from local vendors.


Requirements


  • 5+ years of experience in facility maintenance, building services, or a related role; defense manufacturing or industrial setting preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry).
  • Familiarity with Alabama building codes, OSHA requirements, and general safety practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, manuals, and technical schematics.
  • Proficient with maintenance work order systems and basic computer applications.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.


Preferred Qualifications



  • OSHA 30 certification in General Industry or Construction
  • OSHA Hazard Communication (HazCom) training or HAZWOPER certification
  • Experience with facility security systems and protocols
  • Prior experience in a defense, aerospace, or manufacturing environment


Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; stand, walk, bend, climb, and kneel for extended periods of time. Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions. Ability to respond to on-call emergencies outside of regular business hours.

Work Environment

This position operates primarily in a professional office and manufacturing environment. It requires the use of standard tools, equipment, and systems. This role involves cross-departmental collaboration and both independent and team-based responsibilities. Standard work hours for this position are 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with occasional overtime or off-hour work as business needs arise.
