The Inventory Control Specialist t is responsible for purchasing and negotiating materials, equipment, and supplies from vendors. This position works closely with the Design, Manufacturing and Engineering groups.



RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITIES



  • Attends project kick-off meetings and orders materials and services as specified.
  • Evaluates vendor quotes and services to determine the most desirable suppliers.
  • Works closely with Accounting department to help resolve any discrepancies between purchase orders and invoiced amounts.
  • Has familiarity with a variety of the purchasing field's concepts, practices and procedures.
  • Follows up on open orders and expedites Purchasing and services as necessary to meet production dates.
  • Assigns and tracks purchase order numbers. Enters all WIP orders into the accounting software system. Creates manual purchase orders for non-WIP items.
  • Maintains general inventory items to meet production requirements and participates with Accounting department in year-end inventory count and reconciliation.
  • Responsible for supplier development activities related to improved quality, costs and delivery targets.
  • Performs other related work and special projects such as presentations and PowerPoint files with data collection.
  • Obeys the company's policies and procedures and observes all safety regulations.
  • Authority to evaluate/review suppliers.
  • Review of Non-Conforming Product, Approval of returned Corrective Action

Education/Experience:



  • Requires a high school diploma and CPM or equivalent certification.
  • Minimum of three years work-related experience required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
