Wor-Wic Community College is accepting applications for a part-time esports coordinator and head coach. to work approximately 20 hours per week. This position is responsible for the administration of the college esports program, including coaching, recruiting, student-athlete mentoring, supporting the academic success of the student-athletes and ensuring program compliance with the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA)/National Junior College Athletic Association Esports (NJCAAE) and college rules and regulations. This position is required to work a non-standard schedule that includes evenings and weekends.
Essential Duties
The following list is not intended as, nor should it be construed as, exhaustive of all responsibilities, skills or working conditions associated with this position.
- Plans, manages, coordinates, operates and evaluates the college's esports program, including planning and attending all esports events, practices, competitive matches, camps, clinics, tournaments and promotional events; ensures the esports program conforms to the standards and requirements of the college's schedule; remains current and adheres to all applicable policies, rules and regulations; provides effective sport instruction during meets; exhibits leadership and professional behavior; and ensures personal behavior, team members and program reputation are in alignment with the NJCAA/NJCAAE and institutional values
- Serves as the primary contact for esports and works with the enrollment management team, student engagement team and esports club to identify current and prospective students interested in collegiate-level competitive and recreational sports and recruits student athletes
- Assists with the development of an esports strategic plan with short- and long-term goals that complies with all applicable guidelines and college policies and submits preliminary budget, schedule, travel and equipment needs
- Maintains the esports team arena, including maintenance of equipment and oversight of inventory; completes eligibility paperwork for each student athlete
- Builds a culture that supports student athletes' academic process, retention and graduation through collaboration, activities, guidance and referral to appropriate support services and creates process to retain eligible student athletes each semester
- Completes and maintains appropriate college and relevant certifications, training and workshops, and remains abreast of cutting-edge equipment and playing techniques to ensure excellent coaching and strategizing
- Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree
- Demonstrated understanding of multiple esports, particularly team-based multi-player games and NJCAA compliance, rules and regulations
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication, and organizational skills
- Preference will be given to applicants with experience working in or coaching esports at the college or high school level and/or experience as a professional or esports player
Supplemental Information
This part-time position includes evening and weekend hours and does not include benefits. The starting hourly rate will likely range from $30.87 to $37.87 per hour depending on qualifications and experience, with extremely well qualified individuals toward the upper end of this range.
