Position Summary The Automation Manager serves as the lead technical expert for process and workflow automation and is responsible for managing a team of automation administrators, engineers and various software developers. The Automation Manager is responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting a corporate framework for automation and ServiceNow Development. The Manager also assists with leading process reviews and makes recommendations for improvement, focusing on integration, automation, and efficiency across the organization. This role is also responsible for administering systems used for automation while helping to support and educate the team members.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Recommend and implement improvements, through automation, to current processes related systems, processes, capabilities, and scalability.
- Design and utilize programs, scripts, and automation software.
- Collaborate with vendors and business stakeholders to fully understand integration opportunities, scope requirements, and resolve defects.
- Build and maintain a solid understanding of the processing and business areas of support.
- Assess process needs for re-engineering, delivering innovative options, automation analysis, solution design, and automation development and deployment.
- Actively track, report, and communicate on development tasks, timelines, milestones, and overall quality of process activities and deliverables.
- Manage the in-flow of automation requests and assigning work to the Automation team based on capacity and skillset
- Configure new automation processes using core workflow principles which are efficient, well structured, maintainable and easy to understand.
- Responsible for administering Busey Automation technology, with an emphasis on Jack Henry Enterprise Workflow (EWF).
- Identify opportunities to leverage existing technologies and vendor relationships.
- Administrative support of systems and special projects, as needed.

- An understanding of formal change control procedures and disciplines
- Proficient in JSON/XML, SQL, REST API, SOAP UI, PowerShell, GIT
- Ability to:
- Balance multiple concurrent requests in accordance with organizational priorities and direction from leadership
- Develop working relationships with third-party vendor support departments, including serving as an active member in vendor-driven focus groups
- Develop and maintain effective communication and working relationships with process stakeholders.
- Leverage advanced knowledge of automation, Busey's technology and processes to identify automation opportunities
- Manage a team of automation administrators, engineers and service now developers
- Manage the intake process for new automation requests
- Assign work and tasks based on skillsets and team capacity
- Develop capacity models to plan for future growth
- Work independently and collaboratively to meet target deadlines
- Support multiple concurrent projects
- Effectively facilitate project team and working group meetings

- Administer automation systems and security to ensure updates and features are received in a timely manner
- Provide effective, constructive feedback and development support to team members to improve team skillsets
- Quickly learn and rapidly progress from theoretical exercises to real-world delivery
- Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where limited standardization exists
- Facilitate and lead demonstrations and testing with process stakeholders
- Effectively document process steps for technical and business users
- Navigate communication, both written and verbal, with all leadership levels throughout the organization
- Education and Training:
- Bachelor's degree in computer sciences plus 5+ years' work experience in related field preferred
- 5+ years' experience working in the financial services industry preferred
- 5+ years' experience developing applications and scripts using development languages including SQL, Microsoft .NET Framework, PowerShell, Python, and JSON/XML
- 3+ years' management experience preferred
- Ongoing desire to stay current with emerging technologies and methodologies
- Experience with Jack Henry systems and interfaces highly desired
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office
Benefits and Compensation Salary offered is based on factors, including but not limited to, the job duties, required qualifications and relevant experience, and local market trends. The role may be eligible for bonus or incentives based on company and individual performance.
