New Jersey's academic health center, Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences (
RBHS) takes an integrated approach to educating students, providing clinical care, and conducting research, all with the goal of improving human health. Aligned with Rutgers University-New Brunswick and collaborating university wide,

Posting Summary |
The Center for Health, Identity, Behavior & Prevention Studies (
CHIBPS) (www.chibps.org) situated at the School of Public Health, Rutgers University working in conjunction with the developing Rutgers Sexual and Gender Minority Institute (RU-
LGBTQ) has an exciting opportunity for a postdoctoral associate. This is 1-year appointment with a start date no sooner that March 1, 2026 and renewable for two additional years pending productivity, performance, and overall fit. The postdoctoral program enables associates to build a high caliber scholarly portfolio in LGBTQ+ public health research through mentored scholarship and independent research opportunities.
In addition to research activities, the post doc will coordinate activities for
Annals of LGBT Public & Population Health, partake in the
LGBTQ
MPH concentration, and further the development of
LGBTQ health at RU-
LGBTQ as well as undertake active community dissemination activities.

LGBTQ health who directs
CHIBPS, Dr. Tamara Taggart, Director of RU-
LGBTQ as well as the myriad

The Center for Health, Identity, Behavior and Prevention Studies (
CHIBPS) has been a nationally recognized center dedicated to conducting rigorous scientific research that advances Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning (
LGBTQ) health since 2000. In particular, the work at
CHIBPS focuses on understanding drivers of health disparities including
HIV and other STIs, substance use, and mental health burdens. The
CHIBPS research team includes individuals from a variety of disciplines such as psychology, public health, social work, and neuroscience.
The Rutgers Institute for Sexual and Gender Minority Health (RU-
LGBTQ) is a developing interdisciplinary institute dedicated to advancing the health and wellbeing of sexual and gender minority populations through research, clinical practice, and policy initiatives. Building on Rutgers' established leadership in LGBTQ+ education and research, RU-
LGBTQ bridges academic research with community-centered care through partnerships with clinical programs like the
PROUD Gender Center of New Jersey. Guided by the principles of community-based participatory research, the institute brings together faculty across clinical care, social sciences, and public health to address health inequities in sexual and gender minority communities.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities |
- PhD, ScD, MD or an equivalent doctoral degree in epidemiology, biostatistics, public health, social and behavioral sciences (e.g., sociology, psychology), or related fields with strong emphasis on quantitative methods or applied statistics
- Must have extensive experience conducting statistical analyses with large databases using SAS or Stata.
- Candidates in All But Degree (ABD) status will also be considered for interviewing.
- Strong applied quantitative data analytic skills and experience conducting statistical analyses with large databases.
- Strong writing and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of transgender health, LGBTQ health disparities, and HIV-affected populations.
- Track record of, or strong potential for, independent funding.
