The Sr Trade Customs Advisor role provides technical expertise in support of international import/export documentation processing and compliance with various regulatory agencies to facilitate global package movement.

Essential Functions

  • Liaison with customer services to provide trade/regulatory expertise as required to resolve package movement and regulatory clearance issues
  • Leading and facilitating import/export projects in support of corporate compliance, cost reduction, operational, and customer experience initiatives
  • Foster and maintain working relationships with government agencies, brokers, and express clearance operations to facilitate package clearance within established carrier compliance guidelines
  • Analyze international documentation and clearance operations plans to ensure compliance with specific country import/export laws, regulations, and rules
  • Coordinating features of service requirements and reviewing and resolving regulatory issues related to new services
  • Coordinate the development and implementation of customer support programs for specialized movements such as repair and return, TIB, ATA Carnet, IPD, IPBSS, etc
  • Ensuring system integrity and legal compliance and provide technical expertise regarding transborder prohibitions, restrictions, documentation requirements, and global import/export regulations
  • Developing and disseminating regulatory documentation requirements and utilizing technical expertise in preparing import/export trade documents via phone, fax, or site visits with the sales team
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Education

Bachelors degree or equivalent.

Minimum Experience

Seven (7) years of relevant experience.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Expert knowledge of international shipping laws, regulations, practices, and documentation, including import/export controls, licensing requirements, and regulatory compliance programs

Job Conditions

Preferred Qualifications: Strong experience with Customs and regulatory compliance. The ability to minimize penalty risk.
