Post-Doctoral Associate

The postdoctoral associate will be responsible for independently conducting a series of experiments necessary to complete the specific aims of the USDA-NIFA grant and obtain preliminary results for a competitive renewal. Successful execution of these experiments is necessary to accumulate data to enable publication of project results and renewal of the grant.

Essential and Other Functions:

50% Conduct experiments
Independently conduct experiments.

20% Design Experiments
Design routine experiments outlined in the grant, on both a day-to-day and long-term basis.

10% Participate in Lab/Department Activies
Present research findings at lab meetings and departmental symposia. Attend seminars and interact with laboratory colleagues.

10% Prepare Results for Presentation
The results of the project will be published in major journals in the field and presented at national and international meetings. This position will require data compilation and figure preparation that will be incorporated into manuscripts to be written and submitted for publication as well as posters and oral presentations.

5% Archive Data and Materials
Archive all experiments performed in the course of the study, as well as the generated reagents in accordance to lab convention.

5% Routine laboratory maintenance
Assist in maintaining a ready supply of various lab materials to ensure efficient functioning of the lab.

Essential Qualifications: PhD in biology, genetics, cell/molecular biology, biochemistry, or related fields is required.

Pay Range: $61,008 - $75,000; depending on education/qualifications/experience
