Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and strategic leader to serve as the Director of Digital New Business Development & Operations. This role is responsible for identifying, incubating, and scaling new digital retail initiatives that unlock future growth opportunities. The ideal candidate will blend entrepreneurial thinking with operational excellence, guiding early-stage concepts from idea through validation, launch, and sustained growth.

This is a high-impact, cross-functional leadership role that requires strong business acumen, digital expertise, and a bias for action.

What You Will Do

New Business Development & Operations



  • Work with digital strategy team to identify white space opportunities in digital retail.
  • Develop business cases, go-to-market strategies, and financial models to evaluate opportunity size and viability.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g., merchandising, stores, product, marketing, finance, tech, legal) and external partners to accelerate development.
  • Build and lead day-to-day operations for newly launched digital ventures, ensuring strong execution and performance.
  • Set KPIs and drive continuous optimization with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Manage P&L for businesses and oversee budget planning, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Scale operational infrastructure and team resources as businesses grow, transitioning from incubation to mature operations.
  • Present to executive leadership regularly, providing progress updates, roadmaps, and strategic recommendations.
  • Create scalable frameworks and playbooks for launching and managing future digital business initiatives.


Macy's Registry Business



  • Responsible for end-to-end customer registry experience.
  • Partner with Consumer Insights and Data & Analytics to ensure deep understanding of the customer.
  • Build digital customer experience roadmap with Product and Tech teams.
  • Develop and execute strategy for in-store customer experience including ensuring in-store customer tools provide a positive registry experience.
  • Partner with Stores Customer Experience team to define colleague roles that support occasions and service model supporting Registry and other life stage businesses.
  • Lead efforts for competitive benchmarking across retail industry both digital and in-store competitors; maintain a strong pulse of the customer needs.
  • Help build out growth strategies associated with future life stage opportunities.
  • Act as a strong, accountable owner and general manager for the business with a focus on customer metrics, P&L, and operational measures.
  • Bring a start-up mindset to growing registry as well as extending Macy's experiences to other occasions.
  • Partner closely with other Customer Journey teams such as Consumer Insights, Personalization, and Loyalty.
  • Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities.
  • In addition to the essential duties mentioned above, other duties may be assigned.


Who You Are



  • 10+ years of experience in digital retail, eCommerce, new business incubation, or corporate innovation.
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Proven success in taking new digital ventures from concept to launch and scale, ideally in a retail or consumer-facing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of retail ecommerce and marketplace models.
  • Excellent analytical and strategic thinking skills with experience building business models and managing budgets.
  • Strong operational and team leadership abilities; experience managing cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional communication, influence, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a bias toward experimentation and action.
  • Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands/fingers to touch, handle, and feel. Occasionally required to move about the workplace and reach with hands and arms. Requires close vision.
  • This position requires heavy lifting, constant moving, remaining in a stationary position, and reaching with arms and hands. Involves remaining in a stationary position for at least two consecutive hours, lifting at least 30 lbs. stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders. May involve reaching above eye level. Requires close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.
