The Role:

We are looking for our next Production Engineer within our Plaquemine METHOCEL Operations Team. The Production Engineer will be responsible for working as part of a high-performance team, serving as an influential leader and technical resource to optimize plant operations, resolve plant problems, and enable safe and efficient production of high-quality products. This role develops process expertise and then coaches, advises, and assists the operations team on day-to-day issues and opportunities related to safety, quality, throughput, reliability, and cost. The Production Engineer is key in developing the appropriate short interval control metrics, operating discipline, training, and work processes to maximize value to the business in a safe, environmentally friendly manner, while meeting and exceeding customer expectations.

This position is located in Plaquemine, Louisiana

Compensation:

The current salary range for this role is estimated to be $99,000- $139,000. In addition, this position may also be eligible to earn performance-based incentive compensation. The specific compensation offered to a candidate will be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

What You'll Do:

* Provides leadership and direction in the day-to-day decision making for the operating area of responsibility. Consistently demonstrates strong ownership and encourages this in the plant culture through a continual commitment to excellence.

* Provide training in responsible area as process SME to technical staff and operations as needed. Serve as the technical subject matter expert for operator learner review boards as part of the operations training system.

* Utilizes plant information systems for advanced troubleshooting and streamlining tasks for various roles. Diagnoses and documents the root causes of asset utilization losses for tracking in global systems. Leads and participates in root cause investigations (RCI) for unplanned events that meet standardized criteria. Ensures findings are documented in plant operating discipline for future usage.

* Assists with implementation of all aspects of process safety including process hazard analysis, layers of protection analysis, and loss prevention principle application.

* Networks with other engineers on site and within the multi-national business to leverage knowledge on plant operations and technologies, including R&D and technical services to develop and qualify novel products in the production facility that create value-added differentiation in the marketplace.

* Ensures most effective technology is understood and utilized.

* Applies continuous improvement methodologies (LEAN/6) to enhance plant operations. Works with the plant team and quality coordinator to continuously improve product quality performance.

* Works with plant process control coordination to ensure process control is optimized in the facility.

* Supports plant roles in procedure usage, creation, reviews, updates, approvals, and required training.

* Utilizes statistical analysis methods to produce data-based decisions and results.

What You'll Need:

Education:

* Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required preferably in Chemical or Mechanical fields

Experience:

* Minimum of 5+ years' experience in a production facility is desirable. Relevant Internship or co-op experience may be included.

* Experience in continuous improvement methodologies (eg. Six Sigma, LEAN, etc) preferred Supervisory Responsibility (if applicable)

* Experience with Aspen IP21, SAP, and VBA is beneficial but not required

* While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to speak or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk,

* While performing the duties of this job in the manufacturing environment, the employee must be able to climb stairs, use hands and fingers to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms; work in hot, cold and loud environments (short to moderate durations).

* Ability to interact with cross functional teams, engineering groups, plant operations, research and commercial organization and management.

* Participate in on-call rotation

* Ability to respond off hours and weekends to troubleshoot plant issues.

* Ability to influentially lead teams and individuals utilizing performance-based leadership.

* Ability to multi-task.

* Highly motivated and results focused.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

* This is a full-time position. Days and flexible hours of work and rotating on-call duties are required to meet facility demands.

Business Travel:

* Minimal Business Travel will be required when working this job, however occasional travel (domestic and international) may be expected.
